KAPIHAN SA KONSULADO Zoom Meeting with new Consul General October 28, 2020 The new Consul General Petronila Garcia, a 40-year veteran of Philippine diplomatic public service, invited local community, professional, religious, and social Phil-Am organizations as she started her new position last October 17, 2020. She announced that all activities would be mostly online instead of the traditional in-person events, due to city health regulations, from Covid-19 government directives on this time of year. The plans included virtual Simbang Gabi from Dec 3-11 when first zoom planning meetings commenced in early November. Virtual Parol- Making contest for kids and families would be still be done. The Phil-Am Health Forum during the Covid-19 Pandemic continues. As to it official business, the consulate advised to apply online, during daytime to be counted right away. They started Saturday hours since July to make up for less processing to maintain social distancing. All services are only by appointment, a PCG Emergency hotline # was given (917)-294-0176 to clarify matters. QA followed from the chat messages. Some 45 guests attended the meeting, including members from our chapter: Pres. Winston Umali of Handang Tumulong Foundation, and our Pres-Elect Antonio Costales registered. Connie Uy represented PAFCOM. Pres Fely Santiago, ISC Officer Robbie Icasas, Thelma Reyes, and Alta Felarca also represented our NJNYCT Chapter. All organizations in attendance were recognized in the beginning and ending of the one-hour congenial meeting.
