Ben's Bin        Four things are converging on LMPC this Sunday.  It is Transfiguration Sunday, Valentine’s Day, Scout Sunday, and the first time our Men’s Chorus will sing.  Perhaps, as the Bible says, “the greatest of these is love.”  Yet, all of these have to do with love.  The Transfiguration of Christ has the Father’s voice coming from heaven saying “This is my Son, whom I love, with Him I am well pleased” (Mt. 17:5).  Valentine was arrested (and martyred) for promoting love over lust- insisting on marriage against the wishes of the emperor.  The Scout Law says a scout is “Loyal, helpful, friendly courteous, kind…”  Much like 1 Corinthians 13 describes love (Love is patient, love is kind, it is not rude, it never fails).  The Men’s Chorus will begin its first song singing about love.   Love is found in so many good things in life.  1 John says that the first message we have is that “we should love one another.”  It says, “How can you say ‘I love God’ whom you have not seen and not love your brother whom you have seen?”  Indeed God is love.  In a world of stress, where revenge, fear, and hatred seem so strong, remember love is even stronger.  We are called to love each other- not only when we agree, but especially when we do not agree.  We will celebrate love this Sunday.   We want to love you as a child of Christ.  Join us in love either online or in person as we lift up love for God and love for neighbor.

SCOUT SUNDAY- This Sunday both troop 411 and 412 will be assisting in worship.  Scoutmaster and elder, Billy Higginbotham will be the elder liturgist and do a minute for mission.  Troop 412 will lead us in the children's sermon.  After worship (about 11:30) we will recognize the Scout Hut's naming after Dr. John Ferguson.   Do not forget to take part in "Scouting for Food" that helps We Care.

New Bible Study! Thursdays at 10:00 am, by Zoom. Contact Rev. Blaine Hill for details.  We start a new study of I and II Samuel February 4th. Join us as we read all the drama of Saul, Goliath, David. Marvel at their courage, self-destructive fury and passion, faith and struggle. See the Lord’s care through a story that is more dramatic  than a mash up of Grey’s anatomy and How to Get Away with murder.Do not miss it!

We are collecting gently used books for our LMPC Kids Book Share Library.  Please have your child grades pre-K to 5th grade bring in any already read or unwanted books to put in the tub in the back of the sanctuary.  I will be putting them on a bookshelf in the old sanctuary.  Your child can come and get a new book to read.  I will make an announcement as soon as the library is ready for use.  Encourage your child to donate and pick a new book to read! I am really excited about this new adventure, and I hope it will prompt the kids to read more.
