Unit PlantsWe will review what we learned so far about plants. Teacher will then introduce various types of seeds with the picture of what they become when they grow. We will discuss how some plants grow above soil and some grow below. We will create a chart of which grow above, and which grow below. We will see a short video on plants and how they grow, then we will create our own plants. The children will then tell us what type of plant (lettuce, carrot, etc.) they made and how it grows, above or below soil.

Each child will get 2 transparent cups one for soil and one for sand. They will plant their seeds and throughout the upcoming days see which will grow. (we will create a chart with the children to write their responses from their hypothesis)

Writing Center: Practice tracing horizontal and vertical lines on a paper.Sensory Center: Add items to a water bin and encourage students to find the items and sort by color.

Math Center Compare Heights: Cut out a tree that is approximately the same size as many of the children in the class. Hang it on the wall and invite children to see if the tree is taller or shorter than they are. Children can write their names on the tree to indicate their own height.Art Center: Plant Drawing: Invite students to use supplied pictures and use crayons or markers to draw a plant of their choice.
