This week we are looking at alternative pronunciation of “ow” sound.

Practise the alternative pronunciation of grapheme ‘ow’.Write the grapheme ‘ow’. Review the alternative pronunciations and write the words: cow, owl, brown, crown, frown, low, bowl, snow, window, show. Play Acorn Adventures and sort “ow” sound. https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources/phase/5/acorn-adventures

back to his mother?

What happens at the end of the story?

You could also change the name of the characters - you could have a girl climbing up the beanstalk and selling the cow for her Dad/Grandpa/Brother. The choice is yours.

We will make a “Bubble” alternative ending to Jack and the Beanstalk and story map as an example in school.

Draw a story map of your new version of Jack and the Beanstalk. Draw an S shape on a piece of paper. Draw pictures and key words to sequence the story. This will help you retell the story orally. You will write

Complete the Math Activity Pack on website. I have uploaded this onto j2e under “Shared Files”.

Practical Ideas:Draw your own map or obstacle course of our garden. Write directions for a family member to follow. Use Turtle tool on jit5 on HWB. You can programme a man, butterfly and rocket.

You could also link it with Jack and the Beanstalk – create a map of Jack’s village and make a route for Jack to sell the cow and back home. Remember to use language learnt e.g. anticlockwise, clockwise, quarter turn, half turn etc.

If you have an ipad/tablet, “Think and Learn Code-a-pillar" and “Scratch Jr” are good free apps to practise position and movement through DCF and coding.

During class sessions, I will share examples and practical activities about this concept. Worksheets from the pack won’t be completed in school.

Add all the memories into the jar and close it. In the future, you can open the memory jar and reflect on this period of time.
