Janice Hannington writes…………………… I can't imagine there are many Christians who at some point in their faith life feel they are more distant to God than they want to be and we of course know it isn't God who has moved aside; it is us.

Maybe, like me, you experience times when you know you aren't as spirit -filled as you have been and you have veered off the track of walking the talk. The Good News is God is faithful and He will place the desire in our hearts, by the power of the Hoy Spirit, to do something about it – is God prompting you?

There are many rewards for a God -centred life, a disciplined life, life when our thoughts words and deeds are being moulded, moment by moment, in the potter's hands. God hasn't made it an obstacle course to be mindful Christians, challenging yes, but not for us to be defeated. God's plan is that we learn to seek Him with our whole heart, to earnestly want a closer relationship, a two way relationship. We all know Jesus was continuously in touch with the Father and Jesus wants us to follow in his footsteps.

We have travelled through Lent together, we shared and celebrated Easter Day, we have shared in rejoicing with those who have been confirmed, we are in a good place to seek to be deeper disciples; to explore the worship of God.

Zoe has invested in the Holy Habits resources and those who joined the home group, to discuss and reflect on the first Holy Habit of Prayer, were all inspired in some way. There is a saying, "God loves us as we are but loves us too much to leave us there"; in other words God wants us all to learn and grow through regular holy habits and we need encouragement to live this way.

Luke in his Gospel and in Acts often presents praising God in response to experiencing God's loving help or saving grace.

To understand 'Worship' in all its fullness is to have a heart from which flows gratitude towards God and we don't always recognise God's goodness and grace in our reasonably, comfortable lives and then when we find ourselves in troubled times we find it difficult to worship. The apostle Paul longed for his congregations to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of God to enable their worship. Our offering of Worship to God is because He deserves it and should involve our whole life, it is 24/7 , everyday discipleship.

A secure faith that sees God's "greatness" and our "littleness" in everything, in every thought, word and deed, is a step in the right direction, a step that enables us to simply come afresh to the heart of Worship.

Let us Pray

Hebrews 7:25 “Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them.”

PRAYER FOCUSFor the Easter season here is a prayer for after Communion which is from the Eucharist in the Celtic Tradition at the Community of Aidan and Hilda, Iona:

Heaven is intertwined with earth. Alleluia! We have taken the divine life into ourselves. Alleluia! And so now each can say, I rise up clothed in the strength of Christ. I shall not be imprisoned; I shall not be harmed; I shall not be downtrodden, I shall not be left alone; I shall not be tainted, I shall not be overwhelmed. I go clothed in Christ’s white garments; I go freed to weave Christ’s patterns; I go loved to serve Christ’s weak ones; I go armed to rout Christ’s foes.

Pray for the sick: Ann Fretwell, Penelope Ridley, Simon Hurt, Will Newton, Marcia Butler, Vic Sales, Mavis Ilett,, Valerie Bust, Doris Blythe

Remembring those who have died recently, their families and friends:May Eyre, Joy Wereham, Sheila Furniss, Ellen Eland, Wilfred Hill, John Hibbert

Café Church – Sunday 5 th May @3pm in St Paulinus Community & Church hallCafe church runs the 1st Sunday of month, same time & venue. In April we remembered Jesus as ‘the Celebrity’ King,‘the Compassionate and caring King’, ‘the crucified King’and ‘ the Conquering King’. This month as we continue journeying through Jesus’ life, we re-member Jesus as ‘the Ascended King’ and the difference this makes for our lives. Please continue to pray for this initiative as we reach out to our communities.

Home Groups – Holy Habit – Worship Instead of Rev Zoe’s vicarage, we will be meeting in St Paulinus Church. Our weekly study on Worship begins Tues 7th May at 7.30pm. Curious and what to know about Worship, what it is, how we worship……Come & join us. All are welcome

Holy Week & EasterLots of joy, celebration and hope at our services Easter Sunday across our family of 12 churches. Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services were well attended and people journeyed deeper through the Holy Week events which made Easter Day all the more joyous and much more of a celebration. Thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly hard behind the scenes to make everything happen: all the hidden ministry from cleaning, preparing and decorating churches, tending to churchyards, for teamwork in abundance........THANK YOU!
