Tourism Development Company Hosts UK and German journalists and travel agents

Trinidad and Tobago will be on display during the months of April and May as the Tourism Development Company (TDC) hosts journalists and travel agents from the United Kingdom and Germany.

From 27th April to 4th May, 2015 a group of ten travel agents from Derpart Vertrieb GmbH, Germany will experience the versatility of the Trinidad and Tobago tourism product with visits to various sites and attractions in Trinidad and Tobago, hotel site inspections and meetings with local tourism stakeholders included in the eight day itinerary.

Derpart Vertrieb GmbH is a German franchise company in the tourism industry, founded in 1979. The company, Derpart Travel Services, recently presented Trinidad and Tobago with an award for Sustainable Destination Promotion in the German Market during the ITB Berlin Convention held in March, 2015.

Also scheduled on the TDC’s calendar of events is a press trip for journalists from the UK market, another of Trinidad and Tobago’s key source markets, focusing on sport in Trinidad and Tobago. With a developing Sport tourism niche in the country, this trip will expose representatives from Afar and Observer Magazines to all things cricket. Trinidad is well known for its thriving cricket scene and the visiting journalists will learn about the sport from an historical and community perspective, view community and beach cricket matches and have the opportunity to interview local cricket legend Brian Lara in addition to other officials in the sport.

Another press trip targeted at the UK market took place from 17 th to 26th April, 2015 for journalists from the Food and Travel Magazine. The itinerary for the trip ensured that the participants were able to enjoy the many aspects of Trinidad and Tobago’s cuisine that make the destination a unique culinary experience. These included fine dining with Chefs Khalid Mohammed and Joe Brown, the Debe Doubles experience, St. James Street Food, Maracas’ Bake and Shark, the Green Market and a tour of the Angostura distillery.

The Food and Travel Magazine was founded in 1997 and is an award winning publication which caters to the love of travel and adventure and gastronomy. The magazine is known for its stunning photography, recipes and insider tips.
