1. Why have science-fiction programmes about a scary future become so popular?

The future seems more uncertain and dangerous than ever. Technological advance has not led to a utopian society. With every new advance, it raises new moral and ethical concerns. Issues such as AI, Climate Change, New World Orders and how technology interacts with everyday life fascinates. Many problems look at a ‘near future’ – the bad consequences of technological advance.

2. What is postmodernism and how does this clip in The Matrix represent it?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQ1_IbFFbzA

Postmodernism relates to the idea of hyper-reality and simulation: where society lives more through fantasy and the proliferation of media images than through reality itself. Postmodern theory explores the blurred lines between fantasy and reality.
