Announcements for Thursday, November 8, 2018 Students- bring Veteran’s Day names, branches and years of service to the Library for remembrance. “Helping the Homeless from Head to Heel," a charitable arm of the AP Biology and DE Biology classes, is asking for donations of blankets, winter hats and gloves for the homeless in Memphis as the cold months approach. Please bring this items to Dr Madu's class at M134. The Writing Center is opened Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 2:30 -3:30. Las Americas is seeking student volunteers to help with their after-school tutoring and homework help program. The focus is on tutoring Hispanic students from grades Kindergarten to High School. Monday- Thursday from 3-6pm (NO NEED TO SPEAK SPANISH). Interested students should see Mrs. Heaston to sign up. National French Week to celebrate how much French Rocks, we have hidden special painted rocks. Please find and brim them to E106 or E108 for a prize. French fact: today's French Rocks fact is... 59% of French speakers live in Africa.

The ASVAB will be given at White Station TODAY. If you are interested in taking the military entrance exam, you may sign up in Mrs. Brown-Malone, the counselor's office. 

What’s Poppin, a collective of youth creatives driven to accelerate their art form, has meetings TODAY 2:30 to 3:30 in M240.

White Station, it's time to show some love for two recent graduates. Grace and Caroline Duncan will are asking for your support. The Memphis Tigers Women's Soccer team won the ACC championship on Sunday beating rivals and top seed USF on their home court. On TOMORROW, Nov 9,  at 7 pm at Mike Rose Soccer Complex the Tigers host Wisconsin from the Big 10. Come show your Tiger and White Station spirit and help the ladies to a victory. 

Youth Ignite Memphis Summit applications can be filled out in the Guidance office and are due no later than MONDAY. See Senior, Kierrynie Todd, for any questions.

Seniors, the Balfour representative will be selling graduation announcements and supplies on TUESDAY during ALL lunches and the FAFSA Overview Night on TUESDAY is at 6pm in the library.

BUS RIDERS must present a pre-printed bus pass to the bus driver when boarding the bus beginning Tuesday, November 13th. Drivers will begin issuing bus conduct notices for students without bus passes boarding in the AM and should leave students without bus passes on campus in the PM. The full capacity at which we are operating the majority of our buses requires all of us to be continuously vigilant regarding bus passes.

The Southern College of Optometry’s MobilEYES Unit will be here on Friday, November 16th to provide free eye exams to any student in need.  If you need assistance, please let a teacher know so that they can identify you in the system and connect you with this program.

This past weekend in Nashville, White Station's Model UN won Outstanding Large delegation at Vanderbilt's Annual Model United Nations conference.  Ms. Duckworth and Ms. Fairchild want to personally congratulate Graham Ross and Yash Khiraya for their verbal acknowledgments, Kush Bhatia and Amalie Vacanti for their honorable mentions, Ian McMillin for winning Outstanding Delegate as well as Emlyn Polatty for winning Best Delegate.

We are looking for 3 students with video knowledge, meaning editing, recording and formatting with basketball knowledge to start a position of video coordinator for our basketball Program. If you are interested, please see coach Patino in the senior Gym.

Swim Team will be hosting its first Spaghetti Dinner on November 4th in the Cafeteria at 5pm. Tickets, which are $4 for students, can be purchased in M207!! Do not miss out on this super fun event!!

Student pictures for grades 9-11 will be taken Monday. Teachers have been emailed the schedule, so please review with students.

Our first meeting of the White Station High School Mock atrial team will be Monday, 11/5: 3-5, in the library. See Mrs. Kannady in M207 with questions

The first meeting of the American Sign Language Club will be on Tuesday! Join Mr. Eckert in Room M218B on Tuesday, November 6th to learn how to fingerspell and to learn some basic signs!

National Spanish Honors Society Club will meet next Tuesday in room E101 (Mrs. Magee) for an after school activity right after school.

The ASVAB will be given at White Station on November 8th. If you are interested in taking the military entrance exam, you may sign up in Mrs. Brown-Malone, the counselor's office.

At Youth Ignite Memphis, eight youth presenters get five minutes to pitch solutions on how to make Memphis a better place for all young people. Youth audience members will then vote on which ideas they would like to see funded. This is YOUR chance to have your voice validated, respected, and funded for YOUR generation. Applications can be filled out in the Guidance office and are due no later than November 12th. See Senior, Kierrynie Todd, for any questions.

The Make A Wish Club will have a spirit night TONIGHT at the Chick fil A at Mendenhall and Poplar from 3:00- 8:00. Please bring a friend, the family, or even the whole team to support us.  All proceeds will go to granting a wish to a seriously ill child.

Students- if you have a veteran in your family that we can recognize this Veteran's Day PLEASE bring the name, branch and years of service to the Library. We are posting on the bulletin board outside the library! We would love to have a picture also! Let's thank our Veterans for their service!

“Helping the Homeless from Head to Heel," a charitable arm of the AP Biology and DE Biology classes, is asking for donations of blankets, winter hats and gloves for the homeless in Memphis as the cold months approach. Please bring this items to Dr Madu's class at M134.

We are looking for 3 students with video knowledge, meaning editing, recording and formatting with basketball knowledge to start a position of video coordinator for our basketball Program. If you are interested, please see coach Patino in the senior Gym.

The Make A Wish Club will have a spirit night Thursday at the Chick fil A at Mendenhall and Poplar from 3:00- 8:00. Please bring a friend, the family, or even the whole team to support us. All proceeds will go to granting a wish to a seriously ill child.

Students who love biology and research should join the biology research club to learn valuable laboratory skills, explore biology concepts in depth, to learn how to think scientifically and to conduct research.The interest meeting is Thursday at 2:30 in Dr. Madu’s room M134. If you are a poet or rapper, we are looking for you to participate in the 2019 White Station Black History Cypher. Tryouts are TODAY at 2:30 in Ms. R.Davis room (F222). Come prepared with 16 bars that are school appropriate.

The SENIOR picnic will be November 9th from 9:00 – 1:00 in the senior gym. The students and staff had a ball last year and this year will be just as much fun!! The cost is $35.00 CASH per student and includes activities, food, and a t-shirt. Permission slips can be picked up in the student support office. The deadline to pay and turn in the permission slip is TODAY at 1:00…this deadline will not be extended!! Refunds will not be issued once payment is received.

The Chinese Cultural Club will be having a meeting TODAY in Room E106, Ms. Seagraves room, from 2:30-3:30, where we'll be making and eating dumplings. Come out to meet new people and learn about Chinese cuisine.

A representative for the City of Memphis, MPLOY Summer Experience program that provides City of Memphis youth ages 14 to 22 with meaningful and rewarding summer work experiences will be on campus, WEDNESDAY in the cafeteria during all lunches.   Stop by the table to receive information regarding Youth Summer Experience program offers positions aligned with different career paths, where students learn soft-skills training, maintain entry-level positions, and complete internships.

Keyonna Moore, Sabrina Williams, Devin Davis, and McKenzie Cornell were all given all-district team awards. and GiGi Ford was named Most Valuable Player.

Announcements for Friday, September 21, 2018 We’re collecting nominations for the 2018 Football Homecoming court at every lunch TODAY.

Please remember that all nominees are subject to administrative approval. Nominees are NOT allowed to campaign on school grounds.

We will be having a Town Hall TODAY in the auditorium to discuss Homecoming themes from 2:30 to 3:30.

Scribbler’s first coffeehouse of the year will be TODAY in the auditorium from 5:30 until 9. For long $5; join us for a fall equinox themed night filled with student performances, food, and fun.

There will be a UNICEF interest meeting TODAY in Mrs. Thornton’s room E100. Come to affirm your power to make a major difference and help us save lives by fundraising for children living in poverty to providing them with clean water and vaccinations.

If you registered to take the Mock ACT on Saturday September 22nd at White Station, please be sure that you know your logon credentials for the school computers. The testing will be online so you WILL need to know your username and password in order to test.

Moore Tech is in the process of establishing a machine shop class that would meet from 3:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m..They are also proposing a welding class, if enough interest is generated.
