ANNUAL REPORT 2015-2016

INAUGURATION

Advocate.Teena Cherian inaugurated Women Cell activities for the academic year 2015-2016. Through her intriguing talk on “Legal Protection for Women” she stressed on the importance of women empowerment. She elucidated on a number of cases in which gullible young women fell prey to anti-social elements. She exhorted the students to stand up for themselves and to be brave to tackle the challenges in our modern world. The release of the newsletter and pledge for women’s empowerment were undertaken with gusto by the members.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

0n 21st June Yoga day was celebrated . Yoga is a 5000 year old physical, spiritual and mental practice which has its origin in our beautiful country. Yoga aims to transform both body and mind through a series of asanas and breathing techniques. Since women’s cell conducts regular Yoga classes for the students and teachers there was a great deal of enthusiasm from both sections during international Yoga day.

AYURVEDIC MEDICAL CAMP in association with JCI cochin Air City & Vaidya Health care Hospital

An ayurvedic medical camp was organized in association with JCI Cochin Air city and Vaidya Healthcare Hospital. The students were allowed to ask queries about their health issues and prescriptions were given for their ailments

EZHUTHUPETTY

Women’s Cell conducted Ezhuthupetty a social outreach activity in which all students, members of the teaching staff as well as administrative staff contributed a pen and book each. These were later distributed among the deserving students from each and every department of the college. Instead of limiting this activity to the students of our college, books and stationary were also distributed to Snehatheeram and other near by schools

SWACH COLLEGE

Members of Women’s cell decided to celebrate Environment day on June 5th by cleaning the college premises. Through this activity we inspire our girls to take a step towards positive environmental action to protect nature and our planet earth.

OIL AND ENCLAVING PAINTING CLASS

Oil and Enclaving painting classes were conducted for aspiring artists.

TERRACE FARMING “NANAVU”

A unique terrace farming project was undertaken in association with GCDA Kadavantra and Krishibhavan Aluva. The emphasis was on organic cultivation and the students were amazed with the output and felt that they were all blessed with green thumbs

SILPAKAR 2016

An inter-collegiate craft competition Silpakar 2016 was conducted by the association members. The competition received an overwhelming response. There were many exciting segments like Best out of waste, flower making, pudding competition, photography and saree designing which brought to the forefront the hidden creative potential of the students.

FASHION FIESTA

In association with The department of Malayalam’s add on course of Fashion Technology Women’s cell conducted a Fashion exhibition which was a resounding success. The students came up with an amazing array of beautiful handcrafted jewellery, handpainted designer sarees and home décor.

KARSHAKA PRATHBHA AWARD

Miss.Devi, of Department of Malayalam has been selected as Campus Karshaka Prathiba as part of Nanavu Project.
