FROM MR. GONZALES: Ok. Semester two. We can do this. I know this probably sounds like every other monthly Mr. G message, but there is lots to learn and very little time to do it. It is no doubt quarter three is centered around festivals and competition, but it is important for us not to lose sight of the ultimate objective and main priority: We are here for the students’ middle school level music and arts education. Collecting trophies, certificates, and superior ratings is an honorable endeavor, but definitely not at the cost of anxious, overworked, sleepless children. These kiddos are capable of

achieving great artistic goals, please help me encourage them to keep practicing and stay mindful of making good decisions (academic and social), but also remind them to stay balanced with all aspects of their life. I think, at the end of the day, that’s the more important lesson. But yes, keep reminding them to practice. :)

I hope to chose chaperones for Burbank by this first week of the second semester. Students’ grade checks for trip eligibility will also be conducted within the next two weeks. Thanks again and I am really looking forward to the second half of the year. -Wil

PAST SUCCESSES

Thank you! To all the students and families that helped and participated in the plethora of first semester events including: candles, caroling, concerts, the Nutcracker, picnic, Roadrunner, restaurant nights, and the retreat. We could have not done it without you. Second semester won’t be any less busy and we are looking forward to the many upcoming choir events.

PICTURES! Here are pics from the various winter events. Some caution: Please enjoy and use responsibly. As noted 🚨on the folder, please do not post any pics of the actual ballet and those are for educational use only. 🚨All others feel free to share with permissions and respect.

Easy fundraisers: As most of you already know Five Star Show Choir is the most costly of the EMS choir ensembles due travel, costumes, etc. That said, we are constantly thinking how to offset the costs for our families. Last year’s cost per student was $1200, totaling approximately $44,000 as a group. I wanted to remind families that there are a couple of ways we can raise money with little or no effort.

● amazon smile is a way to shop online with Amazon, but .5% goes to the choir. Click on the link for more information.

● Smiths Smith’s Community Rewards has teamed up with Eisenhower Choir Boosters to help earn money for our choirs. Every time you shop at Smith’s, just present your Rewards card and a percentage of your purchase will be donated to our program.Smith’s requires that your Rewards card be re-enrolled each year. Click on the link for more information.
