What is a movie? It is a story or event recorded by a camera as a set of moving images

and shown in a theater or on television; a motion picture. The stories that movies tell are

powerful whether they are drama, action, horror, romantic, science, fictions, or comedy films. A

persons interests depends on the types of movies that person would enjoy. For example, a person

may like to watch animated movies, detective kind of movies like Sherlock Holmes. But another

might like to watch action and science fiction movies or education based movies. For example,

Movies related to space craft, planets, engineering related films etc.

Although motion pictures had been shown in the United States for several years using

Thomas Edison’s Kinetoscope, the films could only be viewed one at a time in a peep-show box,

not projected to a large audience. Brothers Grey and Otway Latham, the founders of a company

that produced and exhibited films of prize fights using the Kinetoscope, called on their father,

Woodville, and W.K.L. Dickson, an assistant in the Edison Laboratory, to help them develop a

device that would project life-sized images onto a screen in order to attract larger audiences.

A former Confederate officer during the  American Civil War Woodville Latham was also

a chemistry professor at the University of West Virginia for a time. Together with Dickson and

another former Edison employee, Eugene Lauste, Woodville came up with the so-called “Latham

Loop”--a loop that was placed in the strip of film just before it entered the gate of the camera so

that the projector could quickly pause to display the image and then advance the film, without

pulling directly on the film strip and risking a tear. That simple innovation allowed the Lathams

to film long sequences on one strip of film. This was a major improvement over the Kinetoscope,

whose jerky motion had tended to tear any strip of film measuring over 100 feet.

“Pantopticon Rivals the Kinetoscope” read the headline over a small report in the New

York Times on April 22, 1895. “Prof. Woodville Latham yesterday gave a private exhibition of

the workings of what he calls a Panopticon, which is a combination of the kinetoscope and

stereopticon, at 35 Frankfort Street. The effect is precisely like that of a kinetoscope, only that

the pictures are much larger, and can be seen by a large number of people assembled in the

darkened room.” That June, the elder Latham officially filed a request for a patent for his

“Projecting-Kinetoscope”.

or for them to mean something whether it means to teach a lesson, to scary us, test our emotions,

or discover something new!

What makes a good comedy movie?

Humor Type A good comedy fits the perimeters of its humor type. Humor has varying categories. Many of the best comedy films are parodies. This type plays off what the audience already knows about the subject; it usually makes absurd jokes at the subject's expense.Timing The set up for a joke is crucial in any comedic film. Whether the joke is a one-liner or a series of gags, a good comedy knows when to deliver. For example, if the movie is anarchic, the film should clearly define early on the protagonist and the antagonist. Then, it should set up a series of jokes where the protagonist is thumbing his nose at the antagonist's authority.A Plot Or Lack Thereof Typically, the plot in a comedic film is exaggerated by its actors, situations and other character development tools. For example, "Airplane!" is a classic, even though its plot is minimal. Instead, the movie relies on its easily quotable one-liners, such as "Give me Hamm on five, hold the Mayo." A great comedy can create memorable moments just through its character development and dialogue.Happy Ending Good comedic films can range from the light-hearted dramas to the absurd. While comedies can gain material from serious life situations, most end happily and resolve

any conflicts that arise throughout the film. Leaving on a positive note resolves all issues and helps to satisfy the audience's desire for a "feel good" movie.

Airplane is an American comedy that parodies the airplane catastrophe films from the 70’s. The film was a huge commercial success and is one of

the most important films in American cinema history. Ex-fighter pilot and taxi driver Ted Striker (Robert Hays) became traumatized during an unnamed war, leading to a pathological fear of flying. As a result, he is unable to hold a responsible job.

His wartime girlfriend, Elaine Dickinson (Julie Hagerty), now a flight attendant, leaves him. Striker nervously boards a flight from Los Angeles to Chicago on which she is serving, hoping to win her back, but she rebuffs him. After dinner is served, many of the passengers fall ill, and fellow passenger Dr. Rumack (Leslie Nielsen) deduces that the passengers have contracted food poisoning from the fish. The cockpit crew, including pilot Clarence Oveur (Peter Graves) and co-pilot Roger Murdock (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar), have also been affected, leaving no one to fly the plane.

Elaine contacts the Chicago control tower for help, and is instructed by tower supervisor Steve McCroskey (Lloyd Bridges) to activate the plane's autopilot, a large inflatable pilot doll (listed as "Otto" in the end credits), which will get them to

Chicago, but will not be able to land the plane. Rumack convinces Ted to fly the plane, though Ted feels unable to handle the pressure and the unfamiliar aircraft.

Airplane! received universal acclaim from critics and is widely regarded as one of the best films of 1980. Based on 53 reviews, compiled retrospectively Rotten Tomatoes gives the film a score of 98% judging it "Certified Fresh."

Blazing Saddles is an absurd, stitched-together reversal of western stereotypes, a series of great set-ups for punch lines and sight gags, and a flimsy excuse to explore the premise of a black man installed as sheriff in a whiter-than-white frontier

town. There’s never been anything quite like it, before or since.

Be warned: the film makes liberal use of the “N-word,” now so reviled that we dare not write it here, and it does feel odd to hear it in this 1974 comedy. But don’t be concerned that the movie is racist. The characters certainly are, but the movie isn’t.

In fact, Sheriff Bart (Cleavon Little) has more brain cells operating than the rest of the good citizens of Rock Ridge combined. Bart is installed by scheming political boss Hedley LaMarr (Harvey Korman) in a very silly plot to empty the town of its residents so LaMarr (everyone keeps calling him “Hedy”) can buy up the land cheap and make a fortune when the railroad comes through.

Bart manages to survive his first meeting with the townsfolk and gradually win them over with his ability to outwit LaMarr and his band of dim, bean-eating thugs. (Who can forget that immortal scene?) With the help of the Waco Kid (Gene Wilder), and man-beast Mongo (Alex Karras), Sheriff Bart cooks up his own silly plot to save the

town, and the whole thing falls apart into a move-within-a-movie, including a pie fight at the Warner Brothers commissary.Blazing Saddles was Brooks’ first major picture following the success of The Producers, another wildly inventive film starring Gene Wilder. Brooks wrote all the songs in the movie, including the nonsensical "Blazing Saddles," sung over the opening credits by Frankie Laine in a self-parody.

Shot on the set for the sci-fi adventure Westworld, one of the working titles was "Black Bart." "Blazing Saddles" won out, with the tag line “Never give a saga an even break!” The film ranks sixth on the American Film Institute’s list of the best comedies of all time.

What makes up a good horror movie?

There are 5 elements that make up a good horror movie. These things are the plot, themes, characters, the villain, and the ending. Most horror films needs a plot that is original and something nobody’s ever seen before. It’s always hard to come up with a plot that’s 100% original. It’s always a good idea to have plenty of twist in it to keep the viewers interested. The Theme of a movie is also important so it can send out a message to the viewers. Zombie’s films are really popular for this, it show how in this world that everyone is be your side but in reality it’s really “every-man-for-himself”. The next big thing is the characters; you can’t have a movie without the best actors. You need actors with different personalities and trait every person should be different to keep the movie more interesting and keep the viewer’s ready to know what’s coming next. The typical character types include a hero a damsel-in-distress, a jock, a bimbo, a doubter, and an authority figure. The very important character is the character that knows it all and the person who has all the answers, and the person no one can stand. The next element is the Villain; the Villain is also the most important person in a horror movie. The villain is the person that pretty much keeps the story going. The villain gives survives a hard time to survive; the villain can be a person who hides who there until the end to keep the viewers on edge. The next thing is the ending. Horror story sometimes doesn’t always end in a happy ending. There are sometimes no survivors and sometimes there’s only one survivor. The character might be in shock after the movie because they probably haven’t been in a horror movie before. The best ending to a movie is keeping the story open in the people guessing what happens next.

The Conjuring

PLOT:

In 1971, Roger and Carolyn move into a dilapidated farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island with their five daughters. During the first day, their move goes smoothly, though their dog, Sadie, refuses to enter the house and one of the daughters finds a boarded up entrance to a cellar. At the end of story Carolyn, who was earlier possessed by the spirit of Bathsheba, takes two of her daughters, Christine and April, and drives back to the house. Ed, Lorraine, two of their assistants and Roger rush to the house where they find Carolyn trying to stab Christine with the shears. After subduing Carolyn, Ed decides to perform the exorcism himself, though Carolyn escapes and again attempts to kill April. Lorraine is able to temporarily distract the possessed Carolyn from killing her daughter by reminding her of a special memory she shared with her family,

allowing Ed to complete the exorcism, saving Carolyn and her daughter. Returning home, Lorraine tells Ed that the priest who they sought for the exorcism had called back and left a message, saying that he had gained approval from the Catholic Church to perform it. In addition to this, he also has another case for them to investigate on Long Island.
