Kakadu

Sunday, 27 October 2013 FinalIn the final episode of this epic series, monsoon torrents wash away the heat during the season the Aboriginal people of Kakadu call Gudjewg. With the storms comes unpredictable mayhem every day: floodwaters rise, feral buffalo stalk unwary tourists, locals get washed towards crocodile-infested waters, and savage winds flatten trees - choking kilometres of access roads.

Amid the cavalcade of chaos the people of Kakadu go about life and work in this ancient wilderness.

Serangoon Road

Sunday, 27 October 2013

A new baby is left on the steps of the agency, and Sam (Don Hany) wonders if he's the father. But a visit to an old flame puts his mind at rest.

Gang leader Kay Song's (Chin Han) sister Hue-lin's body is pulled from a river and it's revealed she'd recently given birth, so Sam and Patricia now know who the baby's mother was. But do they give the baby to her family and, if not and Kay Song finds out, what then? In the meantime Sam asks Claire (Maeve Dermody) to look after the infant.

Sam sets out to track down the father, and Hue-lin's nanny (Lily Ong) tells him that her best friend Rose (Valentina Barron) knows who the baby's father is.

Su Ling (Pamelyn Chee) and Sam confront Rose at a party, and she tells them the baby's father is 17-year-old David (Julian Low), who is also in attendance. Although he was unaware of the pregnancy, he wants to take responsibility for his son, but his father has other ideas. He refuses to let their reputable family be associated with Kay Song. So does Sam let the boy be raised as an orphan, or by a family of killers?

Claire convinces Sam to take the baby to Kay Song's grandfather (Lim Kay Tong), in exchange for his promise not to seek revenge. The old man agrees to forego vengeance on the child's father and Rose, but orders the nanny's death for betraying the family's trust. Sam arrives in time to see Kay Song reveal his softer side by letting the old nanny go free.

Meanwhile, Kang attends a meeting that will mean some shady work behind Sam's back.

Paul Kelly: Stories of Me

Sunday, 27 October 2013

PAUL KELLY - STORIES OF ME charts the many lives, loves and losses of Paul Kelly, one of Australia's most gifted singer-songwriters. Kelly has been marking out the Australian landscape and its people through words and music for almost 40 years.

Sixth of nine children, former altar boy, dux of his school, sports champion and grandson of two famous opera singers, Kelly first began playing guitar at the age of 12. Since then, he has penned over 350 songs about love, sex, death, family, friends and places, drawing on his many literary, musical, artistic and sporting heroes for inspiration, begging, borrowing and stealing from all of them. His songs chart, not just the physical terrain, but also the emotional landscapes he and his contemporaries have walked through.

Through melody and verse, Kelly has the unique ability to communicate across all age groups and gender. In his collaboration with Indigenous musicians, young performers, playwrights and film directors, he has created some of the most important songs of our times.

Paul Kelly has seen failure and success. And he has the songs to show for it. A very private person in a public career, PAUL KELLY: STORIES OF ME reveals the man and his music for the first time.

The Art of Australia: Coming Of Age

Tuesday, 29 October 2013

The Art of Australia is a stunning three-part, landmark series, on how art and artists helped to shape Australia's national identity hosted by Edmund Capon. In episode 2, Coming of Age, Edmund charts how in the 20th century two world wars influenced the struggle for modern art to gain acceptance in Australia. He climbs the Harbour Bridge to tell the story of how a small band of artists, some of them women like Grace Cossington Smith, were drawn to modern art inspired by mass production and industrial design. The building of the Sydney Harbour Bridge was a pivotal moment, as was the popularity of photography. In World War Two, when Australia was left isolated and under threat of Japanese attack, artists expressed the anxieties and doubts of the age in increasingly disturbing, haunting modernist art. A driving force in this was Melbourne's so called Heide school. This was a hot bed of new ideas and sexual tension, presided over by John and Sunday Reed. It gave Australian art, and ultimately the world, some of the giants of 20th century Australian art - Sidney Nolan, Albert Tucker, Joy Hester and Arthur Boyd.

Tractor Monkeys: Sport And Leisure

Wednesday, 30 October 2013

Tractor Monkeys is back and ready to take you on another hilarious ride through our amazing past!

Join host Merrick Watts and team captains Dave O'Neil and Monty Dimond as they go back through time to celebrate Australia at its best and best forgotten, during the hilarious new season of the comedy quiz show Tractor Monkeys (9 x 30').

With Merrick at the helm, Dave and Monty will heroically lead some of Australia's favourite comedians and entertainers. Stepping up to reminisce this season are Noeline Brown, Shane Jacobson, Glenn Robbins, Marcia Hines, Denise Scott, Daryl Braithwaite, Sammy J, and many more.

New to this season are themed episodes. From fashion, love and family to technology, sport and leisure - and of course TV - Tractor Monkeys is now much more about the personal stories that the archive gold inspires, as the teams tap into both shared experiences and their own surprising anecdotes.

As well as the stories there will be fast-paced question rounds, physical and interactive games and lots of rich archive footage.

Guests: Denise Scott and Sammy J on Monty's team and Rob Carlton and Rosie Beaton on Dave's team.

You love them and you want to murder them: but what is the typical Aussie family?

First up, we look at the ideal 'Madmen' housewives of the 60s, then cub reporter Kerry O'Brien keeps it real with 70s hippy families on a commune in Nimbin. We also revisit the now rarely seen Noeline and Laurie from Sylvania Waters, Australia's first reality TV show.

In one of the most personal and candid episodes of the series, Denise Scott tells us the trials and tribulations of having a clown as a husband. Sammy J shows us his hidden talent of sniffing strangers' armpits to see if they are related to Dave O'Neil. triple j's Rosie Beaton tells us what it was like growing up above the family funeral home, and Rob Carlton still hasn't recovered from having twins.

But in just one morning their whole world is turned upside down when Richard is involved in a freak car accident. As he lies on life support, Peter is the one who has to break the news to Richard's estranged mother, Margaret (Noni Hazlehurst). Richard's condition goes from bad to worse, and as his next of kin, Peter has to make the heartbreaking decision to switch off his life support, under protest from Margaret.

Meanwhile, Peter struggles through his grief, finding comfort in other men. When Margaret discovers this, and so soon after her son's death, she files for full custody of Amy.

Peter doesn't believe the judge will find against him, but when Margaret shows up to the Family Court with a team of lawyers and a well prepared case, the threat of losing Amy becomes all too real.
