3 Strikes Behavior Policy 3 Warnings in a given day will result in the following…

Being sent home and an automatic phone call to parent and possibility of Saturday School or night school to make up the time.

On the 3rd offense that a student is sent home the following will occur… Automatic parent meeting will be held before the student can

return to school. A behavior plan will be put in place.

On the next time the student is sent home the following will occur… Automatic parent meeting where the possibility of removal from

the Rebound program may occur.

Anyone who is causing a problem for themselves or others will receive consequences and be assigned strikes. Our philosophy is that it is not a problem until it becomes a problem and the following have become a problem here at Rebound and will result in being assigned a strike:

Being out of your seat without permission. Excessive Talking Inappropriate Language Using of inappropriate website including but not limited to, music

sites, game sites, and others deemed inappropriate by the district and staff.

Cell Phone-We see them, and we take them for the remainder of the day and on 3rd offense parent must come in to retrieve it. If problems persist then behavioral consequences will be necessary.

Non-Working/Sleeping District dress code will be enforced. Students cannot use staff lounge, microwave, and refrigerator.

District Dress CodeThe purpose of dress regulations is to help each student set a standard for his/her personal appearance that is appropriate within the accepted standards of Joint School District No. 2 High Schools. Students are expected to demonstrate pride in their personal appearance for it reflects individually on them and collectively on the school attended. The Board recognizes that a student’s mode of dress and grooming is a manifestation of his/her personal style and individual preferences. The Board will not interfere with the right of students and parents to make decisions regarding appearance, except when choices affect the educational program of the schools. Any apparel that draws undue attention to a student tends to detract from the educational process and is therefore inappropriate. It is a mark of maturity when students can freely choose apparel that demonstrates individuality without deviating from the standard of appropriateness. A degree of modesty is expected. The Board authorizes school regulations that prohibit student dress or grooming practices which:

• Present a hazard to the health or safety of the student himself/herself or to others in the school • Materially interfere with school work, create disorder, or disrupt the educational program • Cause excessive wear or damage to school property • Prevent the student from achieving his/her own educational objectives because of blocked visions or restricted movement • Any attire that has been identified as gang related or may contribute to the intimidation of others.

Any article of clothing, jewelry, or make-up which draws undue attention, is unsafe, or is disruptive to the educational process will be considered inappropriate. Examples include but are not limited to:

• Clothing that does not cover the stomach, back, chest/cleavage, or undergarments • Tank tops, spaghetti straps, tube tops, off-the-shoulder shirts - shoulders must be covered • Stretch pants unless they are covered with a shirt, skirt, shorts or dress that reaches the mid-thigh dress code. (Yoga pants, leggings, tights) • Spiked clothing, belts or jewelry • Safety pins • Any attire shorter than mid-thigh length –any attire with holes above mid-thigh • Chains connecting the wallet to a belt loop or worn anywhere on the person

Page 12:   · Web viewCollege and Career Counselor: Sierra Teseo 350-5232. School Nurse: JulieAnn Horras 350-5232. Welcome to Rebound School of Opportunity. The staff at Rebound School of

• Boxer shorts worn as outerwear • Hats, headbands, hoods, bandanas, or other head covering • Clothing, jewelry, or tattoos advertising or depicting alcohol, tobacco, drugs, gang affiliation, or sexual innuendoes• Hanging belts • Inappropriate tattoos must be covered at all times • Sunglasses

In addition: • Footwear must be worn at all times • Participation in certain classes may require specific clothing and footwear for safety purposes • Athletic/Activity uniforms worn during the school day must adhere to the dress code policy

Exceptions to the dress code may be made for special days or special events. These days and events are announced in advance.

Violations of the dress code will lead to disciplinary action.

Any student who wants to set up an account and deposit money should do go to mealpayplus.com, set up an account. You will need your student ID number.

If you would rather drop off cash/check can do so directly to the head cafeteria staff (Mrs. Jackie Cook) at Renaissance High School.

6 Week Class Completion Time

Students will have a maximum of 6 weeks to complete each class. There is no minimum time so students may go as fast as they can, while maintaining a passing grade.

Extensions will only be granted due to extenuating circumstances and an academic intervention will be put in place.

Attendance PolicyDue to the fact that we are a unique program and we, at times, have a waiting list for students to be accepted here, we at Rebound take the attendance policy very serious.

The expectation is that students come to their assigned session full time 5 days a week for 4 hours a day for a total of 20 hours a week.

If a student is missing time then they can choose to put in a full day or equal time missed to get their 20 hours in.

If they do not get their 20 hours in, then they will be assigned Saturday school or night school session.

If they are assigned a Saturday School or night school session and do not attend they are subject to In School Suspension (ISS), which will be

Page 16:   · Web viewCollege and Career Counselor: Sierra Teseo 350-5232. School Nurse: JulieAnn Horras 350-5232. Welcome to Rebound School of Opportunity. The staff at Rebound School of

skills development work and will not be allowed to work on their assigned class and/or a suspension from school (OSS).

If this happens 3 times or more, then a parent meeting will be called and the student will be placed on a 6 week attendance contract.

If the student breaks the contract then he/she may lose their place here at Rebound.

A student may work ahead on their 20 hours per week by attending night school and attending double sessions (Double session will have to be signed off by the principal and on an availability of seating, assigned session students will have priority). Any bus student wishing to put in a double session must arrange their own ride.

If a student reaches their 20 hours per week minimum then any remaining days of the week may be excused.

Excused absences will not be counted against a student but must be accompanied by a doctors/court note.

Time accrued for tardies or for leaving early will be added up and Saturday school or night school will be assigned to make up the equivalent time missed. Tardies and leaving early will be dealt with similarly to absences with parent meeting, attendance contract, and/or removal from Rebound.

If a student has missed 24 hours (6 total days) of school and not made them up, regardless of academic grade, then all grades earned that semester may be taken away and an NC (No Credit) added to their official transcript.

Attendance will be taken every hour, daily.
