Lay the fabric down flat and fold one edge over. This becomes the “folded edge” on the stencil. 3. Inside the bag you will find:

Fabric Stencil to cut out the mask shape (2 pieces needed per mask) Stencil to cut the sides (2 pieces needed per mask) Stencil to cut the straps (2 pieces needed per mask) Sewing Stencil to mark the darts for the chin and nose – only used if sewing

Cutting Directions:

1. Cut out the straps - The finished piece is 40 inches long by 1-inch-wide but the stencil is only 10 inches long. You will need 2 strap pieces for every mask

2. Lay the fabric down flat and fold one edge over. This becomes the “folded edge” on the stencil.3. Trace the stencil out as many times as you can fit on this folded edge. *make sure to trace the

little triangles so the person making the pleats will know where to fold*4. Cut it out! Do not cut the little triangles – they are there for a guide only in the pleating step.

You will need 2 mask pieces for every completed mask as the fabric is double layered.5. Fold the fabric again and repeat as many times as you can, leaving enough fabric for the side

pieces6. Cut out the sides – these pieces are about 4 inches long by 1inch wide. You will need 2 side

pieces for every mask7. If you would like to continue with making the pleats on the front of the mask, please visit the

website at: https://www.graffitiwgratitude.com/ for instructions and a video.8. Once you have completed cutting out the pattern, fill in the blank above with how

many masks your kit will make so the person sewing knows how many finished masks the kit will make. You need 2 of each piece to complete one mask.

9. Place all pieces back into the zip lock bag and return it to the exchange location with these instructions and the sewing stencil.

**If you would like to make the masks start to finish, please continue!!

Graffiti with Gratitude1. Sew the pleats down by making one straight stitch from top to bottom through the pleats2. Attach the sides – trim if needed, by simply folding the piece over the side of the mask and make

one straight stitch again from top to bottom. **You may be able to combine these two steps into one??**

3. Next fold the mask in half and use the Sewing stencil to mark the angles for the nose and chin darts

4. Sew this line down. This is how the mask forms around the Healthcare workers N95 mask to help protect the medical mask underneath.

5. Trim the excess piece of fabric above the sewn line6. Finally attach the straps by finding the center and then folding the strap over the mask length

wise then sew this down strap down. Please visit https://www.graffitiwgratitude.com/ For a video on how to sew the mask together.

7. Please contact me to return the masks to me so I can safely get them to the hospitals. That’s it!!!

You have made something that will help save lives.

My appreciation to you cannot be measured in words. THANK YOU!!!!

This is my prayer from my heart to yours

Through light we will find our way through this darkness. May you find the strength to continue your efforts no matter how exhausting they may be. May you find love from those around you even if physically distanced. May you find courage to lead

during the scariest time our world can remember. May you feel my hand in yours to comfort and let you know I am here with you. Most of all, may you find hope that

even in darkness, we have confidence sunrise will come. We walk through this together.
