1.4 SUBMITTALS

C. Shop Drawings: Provide detailed details including elevations indicating size, glazing type and design of each unit type, sections, details, hardware, relationship to adjacent construction, operational clearances and installation details; showing multiple unit connections,

D. Selection Samples: For each finish product specified, two complete sets of color chips representing manufacturer's full range of available colors and patterns.

E. Verification Samples: For each finish product specified, two samples, minimum size 6 inches (150 mm) long, representing actual product, color, and section.

F. Manufacturer's Certificates: Certify products meet or exceed specified requirements.

G. Closeout Submittals: Provide manufacturer's maintenance instructions that include recommendations for periodic checking and adjustment of cable tension and periodic cleaning and maintenance of all railing and infill components.

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Manufacturer Qualifications:1. Minimum ten years experience manufacturing vinyl (PVC) windows and doors.

2. Capable of fabricating vinyl windows and doors that meet or exceed performance requirements indicated.

3. Capable of providing documentation of performance characteristics by inclusion in lists and by labels, test reports, and calculations.

B. Installer Qualifications: Installer with experience on projects of a similar size and scope with similar installation conditions.

C. Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.1. Finish areas designated by Architect.2. Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship, color, and sheen are

approved by Architect.3. Refinish mock-up area as required to produce acceptable work.4. Mock-ups may be incorporated into finished work.

1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A. Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.

B. Store products off the ground, out of direct sunlight in manufacturer's original, unopened containers and packaging, with labels clearly identifying product name and manufacturer until ready for installation. Protect from damage.

1.7 SEQUENCING

A. Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.

1.8 PROJECT CONDITIONS

A. Field Measurements: Verify rough openings by field measurements before fabrication and indicate measurements on Shop Drawings.

B. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.

1.9 WARRANTY

A. Sliding Vinyl Patio Doors limited warranty: 20 years on vinyl and 20 years on seal failure of insulated glass

B. Between the Glass Blinds: 10 year limited warranty for seal failure of insulated glass and a 5 year limited warranty for blinds.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

A. Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.

B. Verify rough opening sizes are of sufficient size to receive units and complies with manufacturer's requirements for opening clearances.

C. If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.

3.2 PREPARATION

A. Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.

B. Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.

3.3 INSTALLATION

A. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

B. Install door unit plumb, level and square with no distortion of frame members without forcing into prepared opening.

C. Apply sealant around perimeter of units between nail fin and exterior sheathing of wall in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

D. Insulate perimeter of frame with acceptable approved insulation material as recommended by window manufacturer. Do not use expansive foam insulation.

E. Set doors at proper elevation, location and reveal; plumb, square, level and in alignment; and brace, strut, and stay properly to prevent distortion and misalignment. Center units in opening and secure units by nailing through nail fin and screw through jambs as indicated in manufacturer's instructions.

F. Protect operating parts against accumulation of dirt, debris and building materials by keeping doors tightly closed and locked to closed position.

G. Provide sills flashed in sealant; comply with requirements of Division 7 section for Flashing and sheet metal.

H. Anchors, fasteners and clips shall be securely tightened and sealed; fasteners are to penetrate opening buck or framing with a minimum of 1-1/2 inch depth. Countersink and bed screws in sill members, joints at mullions, contacts of windows with sills, built in fins and sub-frames in approved sealants.

I. Flash units in accordance with AAMA guidelines.

3.4 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING

A. Adjust operating units and hardware to provide tight fit at contact points and at the weather stripping for smooth operation.

B. After installation adjust door units for proper operation, without binding, sticking, or racking.

C. Remove excess sealant materials and visible labels from glass. Clean glass surfaces promptly after installation.

D. Initiate and maintain all protection and other precautions required to ensure windows are in acceptable condition at time of substantial completion.

3.5 PROTECTION

A. Protect installed products until completion of project.

B. Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
