Some Facts About South Africa
South Africa has 3 capitals: Cape Town, Pretoria and Bloemfontein. The South African population of more than 49 million people is extremely diverse. South Africa's currency is the rand. South Africa is a multi-lingual country: there are 11 official languages. South Africa is known for its animals. The country is home to the famous five (rhino, elephant,
lion, leopard and buffalo). South Africa protects its animals in conservation projects. The ‘dry’ season in South Africa is during the cooler months, May to August. The ‘rainy’ (wet) season is also the hottest time of year in South Africa, and generally runs from
November to March.
The Victoria Falls
The Victoria Falls are famous waterfalls in South Africa.
They are over 1 mile wide. During the rainy season, 500 million litres of water plummets over the edge into the Zambezi River.
The spray from the waterfall can be seen 30 miles away!
