Make some coloured paper eggs and hide them round the garden or particular rooms of the house. Tell your child how many of each colour of egg they are looking for. If you have more than one child hunting at the same time you could give them different colours to look for to reduce arguments! They could then hide the eggs for you to find!

Instead of rolling actual eggs – collect small smooth stones and roll them down a hill instead. If you can’t get out or there are no hills on your local walk – you could make ramp out of a piece of cardboard leaned against a chair. You could run a competition to see whose stone goes the fastest! Each of you could even paint your stone

If you are able to get out on a daily walk, count how many rainbows you can see in other people’s windows. When you get home note down how many rainbows you saw with the date. The next time you are on the same walk – can you see any more or less rainbows? If you are not able to get out – how many alternative ways can you find to make a rainbow to put in one of the windows of your house. For example, my children made rainbows out of footprints in paint – messy but fun!.
