Introduction

The Saudi-USA systematic and ongoing war launched against Yemen since March 26, 2015 under the pretense of re-establishing legitimacy was no more than a war against the Yemeni citizens and their sources of living in an attempt to subject and humiliate them. A stark example of their implicit intentions is their targeting of the agricultural sector with the most deadly weapons to both human beings and the environment. The air-bombardment of grain and vegetable markets, export centers, poultry farms, plant nurseries, grain siloes, refrigerating facilities, seed- and seedling-distributing centers, agricultural accessories factories, roads, and greenhouses is a violation of regional and UN conventions, of neighborly relations, of the ties of blood and history, and the teachings of Islam.

The agriculture sector is the most important economic sector in Yemen and is the main source of income for more than 50% of the working force, and the source of living for 70% of the population. Yet, it is the most targeted sector.

This report is a record of all the damages to this sectorwhich the working team managed to monitor in co-operation with the agricultural extension offices operating throughout the country and their review of the media reports.

It is important to note that it is difficult to obtain information on damages to agricultural sector in conflict areas, such as Ma’rib, Ta`iz, Hadramaut, parts of the Governorates of Hajja, Abyan, Shabwa, and al-Dhali`, owing to deteriorating security and to the nonexistence of communication and transportation facilities. However, the team is still working to obtain information from these areas.
