Artist case studies Mark Mawson This artist is called Mark Mawson and what he does is shooting liquids in different colours titled “Aqueous” but in really creative ways. Why I looked at this artist is because I like the colours he uses to show the flow of water I might want to do something like that with my FMP. One of the works he has done in his gallery is called Flowers and Swirls it looks like he has used two different coloured paints to throw into the tank of water but it looks like he shot it from the bottom of the tank because the paint looks like it spread out from hitting something flat and that will give you that flower effect and it looks like they have used detail for formal elements because you can see every single motion of where the paint is going. And I forgot to say this but it looks like they have used some sort of light source to light the middle of where the orange paint is might be a lamp that’s all I got ta say for that.

Mark Mawson

This artist is called Mark Mawson and what he does is shooting liquids in different colours titled “Aqueous” but in really creative ways.

The equipment they probably used was a tank, glass table, camera, two different coloured paints, lamp, and maybe a lens that can zoom in into really detailed objects. This inspires me to use the tank for something but I’m not sure yet though.

Stefan Brenner

I am researching an artist that is called Stefan Brenner and what he does is liquid art and making sculptures with water drops. The reason why I’m looking at this artist is because I like the way the water drops come out of the drop let into the tank to get different sorts of patterns out of the coloured water I would like to do something like that with my FMP. The way he does his pictures is by taking the drops 1000th of a second on his canon EOS 7D and the lens of it is a canon 105mm 2.8f L IS Macro and what flash he is using to light this set up is a Canon Speedlites and Yongnuo flashes and tripod they are using to hold the Camera is a Sirui tripod and he is using a UV Filter to protect the lens the input he did on his camera and other equipment like his mode is manual, exposure time 1/100, aperture f16 – f22, ISO 100 – 400, flash as low as possible 1/32, 1/64, focus manual, WB auto.

One of the formal elements that his using is colour and you can see the colour schemes perfectly syncing with each other. I might put some kind of food colouring in the tank and then drop items with in the tank.

Hardx dd

The artist called Hardxdd has done a flash photography picture of a lemon getting dropped in water. Why I have looked at this artist is because he is doing something similar to what I am thinking about at the beginning of this Unit so that is why I am looking at this artist for my FMP. The way he has taken this picture is by having 2 flashes in both sides of his aquarium, but a bit above of where the lemon is and he also used foil under the aquarium I think why he has done that is to have the light not bounce from the table or something like that he also has his shutter speed on 1/256 on his camera. For his equipment he has Nikon D5200, 2 flashes, foil, aquarium and a wireless trigger.

The formal element he used was form because you can sense the space and the substance of the lemon. How this will influence my idea is I will drop my stuff from my house that belongs to me in a tank and use flash photography to take a picture of it with the splash and the item all together in one shot.
