19. Read this article; Flea is one of the most famous bass players of all time, he plays in the rock/funk band ‘The Red Hot Chilli Peppers’. He was born in Melbourne, Australia but moved to Hollywood with his parents as a child.

Flea had a very difficult upbringing and overcame drug addiction at a young age. He says the music saved his life and since he joined his band, he has been drug free and playing bass all over the world. He can also play the trumpetand electric guitar.

Flea is well known for using the ‘slap bass’ technique.Which involves hitting the bass hard with your thumb insteadof plucking it. This makes a heavier, more percussive sound.
