Dear First Graders,Mrs. Kent, Miss. Sarah, and I miss all of you and wanted to make sure we sent some fun OT and Speech activities your way! These fun suggestions go along with Miss. Cutting’s and Mr. Schneider’s projects for the book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. We hope you enjoy your SPOT Time and we can’t wait to see you in school soon!Miss you!~ Mrs. Emborsky, Mrs. Kent, and Miss. Sarah

OT Activity:Visual Processing: This activity works on finding words in a busy background, form constancy that the same

word is written just using different fonts and sizes, and scanning top to bottom, left to right.

Fine Motor Skills: Use some chocolate chips as counters instead of making tallies! Remember, use your pinchers (thumb and index forming a circle) when picking up the pieces. Make it harder by using tweezers.

Visual Motor Skills: To work on printing skills, copy each word when you find it and make a list. Remember to check your letter sizes for tall, small and ones that should fall under the line (I only see one letter that “falls” in this word list…can

you find it?)

Speech Activity:We would love to see you write about what you would like to do if a cookie was given to…YOU!!! Remember to use your capital letters at the beginning of your sentences and for the first letter of your name. Use punctuation at the end of your sentences, too. Choices for punctuation are: . ! ?

Challenge: Write more than ONE sentence!!

When you are all done, read your writing out loud. 😊 Does it make sense? Do you like the way you wrote it?
