GPFD Hearts & Hoses Meeting 6/4/2014 I. Retiree Gifts-H&H has been giving out money clip/wallet to retirees. The clip is engraved with the years that they have worked, a Maltese cross, and $50 bill is added. Gloria is being put in charge of keeping H&H up to date on current retirees. So far all recipients have really been appreciative! II. Fundraising a. H&H /Nicklas Foundation Golf Tourney-Is on Friday June 13, 2014 at 8am. Need H&H volunteers to arrive at Bear Creek Golf Course at 6:15am. Players can sign up day of. Discounted rate of $85 for fire and police. i. Volunteer shirt sizes-Needing volunteer t-shirt sizes. Email Tammie with size [email protected] ii.Bag stuffing – the morning of the tourney-We are no longer needing volunteers on the 12 th . We need volunteers to show up on the 13 at 6:15am to help stuff bags. b. Recipe book-Goal for cookbook to be done is the first week of September. We have recipes, however they are mainly from ‘B’ shift. Lauren, Misty, Paula, and Petra will request recipes from non b shift people. Attached are the current recipes that we have. We will use no more than 5 recipes from each person. c. New ideas-Rose VanGurp suggested a Fire Calendar. She will have more details later. Majority of the group agreed that this would be a great fundraising opportunity.

II. Fundraising

III. Membership Dues-Dues are now only $10. H&H needs to know what to do with the credits that some of the members still have. Credits can be used for future dues, to add members,

donated, or given a refund. All members at meeting donated their $22 to H&H.

IV. 2014 GPFD Family Get together-Free event. Email Gloria with RSVP’s,. Other ideas for RSVP’s: Battalion chiefs in charge of headcounts, evites, and signup papers at each station. Tammie will work on a flyer that will be put in all FF’s boxes. Flyers will be sent out 1st week of August. Budget set at $4,000 ($2,000 from Association)

a. Date – Saturday, September 13th-starting 4pm dinner starts at 6pm

c. Food-Hamburgers from Mixed up burgers, Audiopocalypse, or vendor that Paula recommended. Tammie will do further research, and contact each company requesting

cost. We will provide non-alcoholic beverages such as sodas, water, tea, and kid drinks. People are encouraged to bring their own adult beverages if desired.

d. Entertainment- DJ (Same from the gala). 80’s cover band was suggested, but it was decided that a DJ would appeal to more of the crowd. Tammie will contact the DJ.

i. Adult-”Chief Dunkin” Dunking Booth (Paula looking into this). Pie eating contest (Petra suggested using whipped cream in a pie pan instead of actual pie. Winner will receive a

trophy and gift card. Booth and pie contest will be prior to dinner.ii.Children-Water trampoline, Bounce park, (Paula looking into these), Corn Hole, Horse Shoes,

washers (Lauren looking into these), Potato sack races (Lauren suggested using king sized pillow cases), 3 legged race (Tammie suggested cut denim for ties),

Kickball and softball games. Having bouncy balls for the kids was brought up. All Potato sack racers will get goodie bags. Winner will get a large goodie bag.

e. Cook-off-Marika will work on this. She will ask for Farris’ assistance. Suggestions for the judges were; FF from another city, and city manager. Cash reward and trophy for

winner.

f. Additional tents and seats-Paula looking into this. Possibly same vendor from her wedding. It was discussed that we might need a generator. Possibly borrow one from the department. Will need a fire engine for dunking booth, and other water related activities
