TRANSCRIPT
It is that time of year when we start to say goodbye to what we are leaving behind, classes, teachers, primary school. We reflect on what we have learned, achieved, struggled with over the year and we look forward to what is to come, the excitement of the summer holidays the new start. Our theme for the final week of school is all of that
‘Looking back, reflecting and moving on’
PLEASE NOTE ALL LINKS MENTIONED ARE AVAILABLE AT THE END OF THE DOCUMENT.
Home learning for P 3-7 week beginning 22nd June 2020 ‘Looking back, reflecting and moving on!’
Read through the challenges and then decide how you will manage the tasks throughout the
next week. Evidence of your work should be submitted to your teacher via email. This could be a PowerPoint presentation, photos, a video clip or in writing.
Most importantly — HAVE FUN!
There is no expectation for you to print out any of this work. All of it could be done on paper or in jotters, look at the work on the screen and pick one to two tasks for the day. For sheets with more questions use the screen like a textbook.
REMEMBER TO KEEP READING! Here is a link for audio books should you be running low https://stories.audible.com/start-listen and continue to practise your number bonds and tables, and take time for
yourself!

‘Moving on’
“Be strong enough to stand alone, smart enough to know when you need help, and brave enough to know when to ask for it.”
In school the children have been learning about Building Resilience, through the character Skipper, and the tools needed for coping with the ups and downs of life. As they leave this session 2019/2020 behind for the summer holidays, it is important to reflect on how far they have come, realise how well they have coped with the challenges they have faced and continue to take the tools they have learned with them as we all move forward onto the next chapter, whatever that might be.
Resilience is a key factor in protecting and promoting good mental health. While we can’t always predict what life throws at us, the good news is there are a range of different skills, strategies and resources that can help us to cope
ChallengeMake a word cloud poster using words that inspire you, words that make you feel uplifted, strong, positive, words that make you smile, names of your favourite people, places, things. You could draw this, create it on a word document using word art, or other software or try one of these free word cloud art websites. See below (separate page) for examples of word cloud art.

‘Reflecting on your school year’
First LevelWrite a letter to your new teacher, tell them everything they need to know about you. Your, family, hobbies and interests. Include information about school life, your favourite subjects, best friends, things you find challenging. Use this weblink below for a template to support your writing. www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/cfe2-e-185-letter-to-my-teacher-writing-template
AlternativelyCreate a time capsule. Pick a watertight container, fill it with pictures that remind you of this time, like the ones above, photos and writing. Use the templates below (separate page) with ideas of what to complete and place in the capsule. Remember to make a note of where you bury it along with a note on when you would like to dig it up.
Second LevelWrite a letter, journal or diary entry to yourselves reflecting on the past year and looking into the future. Keep it somewhere safe and write a date on it to open it again, maybe a year from now or longer. Use these ‘end of year reflection questions’ to help structure your writing and build content. Illustrate as you go, think about the symbols that have been important to you through this time, maybe like the ones above.

A NOTE TO PRIMARY 7’S FROM STUART AND MARK AT BYCT
By now Mark and I would usually have been in to talk with you P7s about moving up to High School, but obviously we can't do that this year. However, our colleagues in Scripture Union Scotland have put together an online presentation which individual pupils can have a look at, at home which picks up on the three key ideas we would usually explore - the Changes, Challenges and Choices involved in the transition process. Its inevitably a bit different from the way we would do it, and the important element of group discussion is unavoidably missing, but we hope it could still be helpful.
I know schools are doing what they can to prepare for transition in these changed circumstances, but we'd be delighted if you felt you could use this online ‘Its Your Move’ session within the focus of ‘Looking back, reflecting and moving on’ on this week’s home learning plan.
Attached is the advert for the session, which will be sent out to P7 pupils. There's a clickable link on the flyer which takes you to the web version of the presentation.
The presentation ends with a link to places where the ‘It’s Your Move’ book can be purchased, but BCYT provided the school with a free copy of this for every P7 pupil. This will be distributed to you.
Good Luck and we look forward to seeing you all in your new setting next session!
