What a great week! The students are wonderful and really starting to get the hang of things. This week we will continue to learn about communities & start maps and globes on Thursday. We will have our Communities & Citizenship assessment on Wednesday. In math, we will continue to learn about ordinal #, patterns, & skip counting. Test will be on Wednesday. We are starting our word study this week as well. Students will need to follow along with the homework log.

We will be starting our addition and subtraction timed test. This will be a weekly timed test. Please have them continue to practice their addition and subtraction facts. All students will be starting out at 5 minutes for both addition tests and subtraction tests. (50 problems each) I have listed some great math resources on my website.

Learning Journals will start to come home every Friday. Please have your child read you their letter and if you have time, write a letter back to them. Return this journal back to school on Monday.

Monday Folders will go home on Monday. Please remember to sign them and send them back on Tuesday. They will contain our communities & citizenship test, Ordinal # test, spelling test, and maps and globes study guide. You may keep everything at home.

Sols we are coveringMath: This week we will be working with ordinal numbers, odd/even numbers, patterns, & skip counting. Math Facts: For the first quarter, students will have 5 minutes to complete 50 addition or subtraction problems to 20.Content: Content: SOL 2.3: The student will identify and compare changes in community life over time in terms of buildings, jobs, transportation, and population.
