Michael Bandy Game Design Document For Iphone And Tablet Game Pitch Can you find who killed our victim at the Party? Play Cluedo on the Go! My final idea for my game design is to create a game that is based around the old board game of cluedo. But mine deifiers by allowing the player to complete mystery at different areas and with different killers and victims. It will also feature different murder weapons being found in the game and the player has to find out what one in the real murder weapon with the help of their team and the crime lab they can take control of. The players are drop into a role as a lead detective and whose job it is to solve the crimes. Visual look + feel The look I am going for with this game is a mix of colourful and bold look of animated style mixed with the raw emotion and detail that you find in CGI style character designs. By combining both these looks I want to create a game that is both eye catching but also allow for the game to show the fine details and expression that are needed in a detective game. A good example of the type of art style I want my game to have is shown in the movie the adventures of tintin which was done using CGI. I feel that a mix of this style of CGI and the bold and bright colours of animation would work perfectly for my cluedo based game. I am also very interested in how I can create dark and gloomy areas in one part of the game and bright and cheerful areas in another. So in order for me to do this right I felt that animation was the best style to use but

Game Design Document For Iphone And Tablet Game

Pitch

Can you find who killed our victim at the Party? Play Cluedo on the Go!

My final idea for my game design is to create a game that is based around the old board game of cluedo. But mine deifiers by allowing the player to complete mystery at different areas and with different killers and victims. It will also feature different murder weapons being found in the game and the player has to find out what one in the real murder weapon with the help of their team and the crime lab they can take control of. The players are drop into a role as a lead detective and whose job it is to solve the crimes.

Visual look + feel

The look I am going for with this game is a mix of colourful and bold look of animated style mixed with the raw emotion and detail that you find in CGI style character designs. Platforms

While creating the idea for this game I also had to consider what console and device I wanted my game to appear on. My choices for the consoles I will use for my game is the tablet and iPhone. The reason I have chosen these consoles is because they are both mobile and are connected to the internet at any time. Another reason I have chosen the iPhone and the tablet is that they both feature online stores that can make it easy for me to sell the product, without having to spend more money on boxing and marketing. Also the game itself is something that is meant to be played for up to an hour or two while on a train ride or in a car. So in order for my game to meet these areas of function I have decided to use the simple and compact iPhone and Tablet.

This is my first idea for a Tablet game as you can see from the look of the game it is all based around the touch of the screen and that everything is plain sight of the player.

This is my final choice for my game idea. I have design to go with the cluedo theme tablet and Iphone game. Which I am basing touch controls for the player to control the whole game. So for example you would look at a level and find a knife you would touch the knife which would then be collected and you now have the option of finding out in greater details what that knife has been used for.

This is the basic wireframe look for my tablet game. It an example of how I want my touch screen to work on the Tablet layout and what buttons will be used for the player to start the game. Above are the buttons that I will for my game in a tablet for my cluedo game. I will now list the buttons and their function as show by the arrows:

*Title banner of the game this show what the game is called and what the style of the game may be like

*Close Screen Button this allows the player to close the game at any time and use other function of the tablet.

*Start Button this allow the player to begin the gameplay and story of the game.

*Option Buttons this allows the player to change things about the game such as sound and difficulty.

This is a wireframe for how my option menu will work by using touch controls. The buttons for this screen is as following;

*Difficulty this allows the player to control how hard or easy the game will be for the play or how much help they will get.

*Close Screen button again this allow the user to close the game screen.

*Volume Controls this used by the player to control the sound of the game.

*Control Options this allow the player to change the control from touch control with the screen to the stylized sticks used in the DS console.

This is the layout of my level on a tablet console. The buttons are as following;

*Game Options and Save Menu this allows the player to check what items and clues they have found and the options of saving their games.

*Call Suspect Button this button allows the player to call the entire suspect that they have found during the case of the investigation of the murder.

*Note Pad this allows the player to check what information and answer they have got from the suspects.

*Close Button this allows the player the option of close the screen and leaving the game.

Persona

The target audience I am aiming my game at are young adults and adults both male and female, with the secondary audience being young teens also both male and female. The reason I am focusing on adults more than children is because the game is more focused on attention to detail and fact finding and problem fixing. This is geared more towards adults than young adults who play games for the gameplay and the story. So the main target audience for this game is Adults between the ages of 25-30 with the secondary audience being teenagers who are between the ages of 15 to 19. My choices for the target audience of my game is influenced by where they sale detective games and how they are marketed to the audience. For example most detective games for the PC are sold at computer shop such as PC, Curry’s and Comets. Also when a detective theme game for the PlayStation and Xbox comes out it is always aimed at the adults with the game being aged rated 18.

Scenario

Male Adult Player

The aim of this type of gamer in game such as these is to find as more clues and facts as their can so that their can build a bigger picture with the fact and information they have found. With the whole of the facts they then build an idea of what happen and then use the facts and information to prove their ideas. So what this means for my game is that when a male adult player plays my game they will search for every piece of evidence they can find before they come up with a idea of who the murder is.

Male Teen Player

The aim of this type of gamer is similar to the adult male players but because of their young age they will focus on only the most important facts that they need in order to prove that their suspect is the one who killed the victim. So while they will pay the same amount of detail to facts and information they will focus on the facts that they feel will prove that the suspect they have chosen as the murder is the murder.

Female Adult Player

The aim of this type of gamer is different from the Adult male and Male teen player in that while their will search for the facts and information to build their case. They will focus more on how the character react to finding out information they did not know about the victim or those they think they know about the victim. By judging these reactions they can find out what their suspect is hiding and why he is hiding this information and this usually allows them to prove that their suspect is the one who murder the victim. But they will do this once they have found all the information and evidence that support this view.

Female Teen Player

The aim of this type of gamer is similar to the adult Female but like with the teen male they focus on the information and facts that prove the idea that the suspect that they have chosen as the person who has committed the crime that they are accused of. So they will focus on what helps them prove their point and over the course of the game they will find new information from the character they have questioned will open up new paths and suspects from them to question until they prove their idea.
