#2minutebeachcleanBOARD OWNERGuidance and procedure

Thank you for agreeing to buy one of our, or multiple #2minutebeachclean boards.

Our pilot scheme has been very successful and we anticipate few problems, if any. However, we still need to ensure that we protect you and us. So here is some small print and notes on usage.

OWNERSHIP: The board is your property once delivered. If you plan to have a ‘Guardian’ to take care of the board, please ensure they adhere to the guidelines below and sign the ‘Guardian guidelines’ form on the website.

MAINTENANCE: The boards should be maintenance free as they have been tried and tested over a tough winter. If they do fall over there is not a lot that can go wrong. We offer a repair service for boards that have been purchased. If there are minor issues and wear and tear we would expect you to carry out these repairs yourselves however, in the case of major damage (i.e. the board looses function or becomes dangerous to the public) that might put the board out of use, please contact us to discuss this further.

PLACEMENT: Where the board/s is sited is important. We want to makes sure that as many people see it as possible and that they are able to read both sides. However, it must not block pathways, cause an obstruction or be sited anywhere it may be seen as being dangerous or a nuisance. It cannot be used if litter bins are out of commission or too far away or unable to be seen from the board.

· Do not site the board too far from bins or allow it to cause obstruction.

· Do not put it out where it may damage parked cars if it fell over or on or near a cliff edge.

· If you can, find a place where it can be chained to a post (but can still be read on both sides) to minimise the danger of it being stolen, blown over or causing damage to anyone or anything.

CARRIER BAGS: Please keep the bag holder topped up with *used supermarket bags* and ensure the bags are secure in the tube and won’t blow away. If you can, please invite others to bring their used carrier bags and advise users to empty the contents into the bins nearby and then place the bag back into the holder to be reused again. No black bin liners please.

PICKERS: We do not provide pickers with our boards. Please go to our online shop to purchase via our Litterpicker partner, Helping Hand. We recommend putting out 3 with the board, maximum 4, at any one time but keeping a small stock of spares. We have found that they will wander from time to time, but, historically it hasn’t been a big problem overall. If you need any other litter picking products that aren’t featured on our website, Helping Hand have a discount code for all #2minutebeachclean customers - 2MBCGROUP.

WEATHER CONDITIONS: When winds are high and there is any risk of the board being blown over, do not put it out.

· If you can, chain the board to a post or weight it with a sandbag (not supplied) so it won’t fall over and damage people or property.

· Do not put the board out where it is at risk of being washed away by large set waves at high tides.

· Please also consider the weather and tides for the day ahead before making the decision to put the board out. It can turn!

PUBLIC SAFETY: If there are any known risks to public safety on the beach including, but not inclusive of, strong winds, unknown substances, large storm swell, tidal cut off – do not erect.

INSURANCE: We expect you to add the board/s to your public liability insurance. If you assign a ‘Guardian’ the boards will be covered by their public liability under the ‘goods held in trust’ clause. We will need a copy of their public liability insurance for our records.

HELP WITH PUBLIC RELATIONS: Logos and videos are available for use online if you wish to inform the press of the arrival of your board.
