Phonics

Introduce— ar, or, ur digraphs

Revisit—all flashcards using jolly phonic actions. Can be downloaded online OR this website enables you to use them interactively https://www.phonicsbloom.com/uk/game/flash-cards-time-trial?phase=3

Teach— ar, or, ur

Practise— Write words containing digraphs and put them in a bag. Children reaches in and gets one and has to read out the word.

Apply— Go on a word hunt. Read words when you find them or write them down and collect them.

Expressive Arts and Design

Lots of activities to choose from;

Weave a basket for Little Red Riding Hood using paper.

Make a puppet for one of the characters from The Little Red Riding Hood.

Create a paper plate design for one of the characters and collage to decorate it.

Making jam biscuits/cakes for Grandma and decorating them with icing.

WHY NOT DISPLAY THIS IN YOUR WINDOW AT HOME FOR ALL TO SEE.

Physical Development

FMS—Dojo Challenge (you can set up dojos at home for positive rewards for learning and showing values).

Can you draw a picture of Little Red Riding hood? Can you write her name? What did Little Red Riding hood say to the wolf?

Reading

Daily practise of 1-1 reading and reading of high frequency words. Repetition of this is key to the children making good progress.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Stranger Danger focus—

Discuss what happened in the story of Little Red Riding Hood- don’t walk off the path like Red Riding Hood—always stay with a grown-up etc.

Should we do what all adults tell us to do? What if we don’t know them? Discuss Stranger Danger with your child and link to Traditional Tales (Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks)

Use PowerPoint to assist with teaching—Keeping Safe around Strangers.

Show and Tell

Encourage your child to tell you or show something from your house.

Physical Development

Writing Skills— complete the attached sheet in your Home Learning book.
