When you get a computer, go to this website: portal.riversidepublishing.com User name: your Origins email address (example: [email protected] ) Password: origins1 Follow the teacher’s instructions to complete the reading test (there are two separate parts: Vocabulary and Comprehension). Presentation When you have finished the reading test, or you are waiting to begin the next part, you can begin work on our class presentation assignment. You are writing a 250-word speech (one page double spaced, size 12 Times New Roman font) about a text that uses ethos, pathos, or logos to appeal to an audience. You can look for any text online that tries to argue or persuade the audience; it could be an advertisement, a speech, a fundraiser, a poster, etc. When you find a good text to write about, create a Google doc and share it with [email protected] . In your Google doc, write a speech (you will present this to your ELA class next week) that analyzes the text for SOAPSTone (speaker, occasion, audience, purpose, subject, tone) and explains which type of appeal the text uses and how you can tell (ethos, pathos, or logos).
