Lesson n. 09 23 - 29 May 2020 Title: Creation: Genesis as Foundation – Part 2 Key texts: Psalm 19:1; Job 26:7-10; John 1:1-3; Genesis 1-2, 5 & 11; 1 Chronicles 1:18-27; Matthew 19:4-5. A. Themes to Explore: 1. In the last centuries theological thought has attempted to resolve the science on origins, long ages and the Biblical text. 2. In the last decades studies have demonstrated that the Biblical account, far from taking inspiration from ancient myths, was actually anti-mythical. 3. The authors of the New Testament and Jesus Himself totally gave credence to Genesis 1-10, making these chapters the foundation for many truths. B. Learning Objectives 1. Reflect on the fundamental concepts that make the account of our origins (Genesis 1-11) the foundation of the whole message of the Christian hope. C. Possible questions for deeper study, debate, reflection and sharing of the Word 1. Why do a large number of Christian organizations tend to not give credence to the account of our origins? How should we respond? 2. What emerges from the numerous texts proposed in Thursday’s lesson (28 May) on the link between Genesis 1-11 and the NT? 3. What areas of your life draw comfort and blessing from the verses of Genesis about a perfect world created by God?
