need:

•Alize Softy yarn of white colour (fluffy yarn)

•YarnArt Jeans Cotton yarn 1.76oz (50g) – 174 yds (160m) for beak, chin, crest, tail, and legs

•2.0 mm crochet hook

•Stuffing•Black beads for eyes

•Buttons for wings and vest

•Some cloth for vest•Sewing needle and scissors

Skill level: advanced

Head and body: Start crocheting from the top of the head with Alize Softy yarn of white colour. Crochet as a circle. The yarn is quite difficult to crochet with, so use the stitch marker at the beginning of each round and count stitches as you go.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in a magic ring

Rnd 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]

Rnd 3: (sc in the next st, inc) repeat 6 times [18]

Rnd 4: (sc in the next 2 st, inc) repeat 6 times [24]

Rnd 5-10: sc in all 24 st

Rnd 11: (sc in the next 2 st, dec) repeat 6 times [18]










Stuff the head and neck tightly.






Stuff the body, but not very tightly.

Rnd 42: (sc in the next st, dec) repeat 6 times [12]

Rnd 43: (dec) repeat 6 times [6]

Cut the yarn, close the opening and hide the end.

Beak: Use Yarnart Jeans of beige colour.






Cut the yarn leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff the beak and pin it to the head.

Chin: Use Yarnart Jeans of red colour.





Rnd 9: sc in all 9 st


Cut the yarn leaving a long tail for sewing. Make one more part using this pattern. Pin to the head.

Crest:Use Yarnart Jeans of red colour. Crochet 3 separate details according to the chin pattern. After finishing the third detail, don’t cut the yarn and continue crocheting.

Crochet with sc. Two first parallel stitches, that is the first and the sixth stitch from the hook, then crochet the next parallel stitches (the second and the fifth), crochet the last parallel stitches (the third and the fourth). Don’t cut the yarn and continue the round on the next part, without skipping anything! Crochet in the same way as the first detail. Do the same with the third detail.

Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing. Pin the crest to the head. Sew all the part together (beak, chin and the crest to the head).

Legs: At first, let’s crochet stockings 🙂 Use Yarnart Jeans of yellow and green colours.

Start with green yarn, 9 ch, join in a circle.


Change the colour to yellow.

Cut the yarn, leave a green end longer for sewing to the foot. Don’t stuff!

Use Yarnart Jeans of beige colour to crochet the feet. Start with the middle toe.



Cut the yarn and crochet two shorter toes.



Don’t cut the yarn after crocheting the last finger and continue crocheting the foot, joining the toes together.

Rnd 6: sc in the next 5 st, don’t cut the yarn and continue crocheting on the middle toe, without skipping! sc in the next 2 st and join the third toe, sc in the next 5 st, leave 1 stitch uncrocheted. Then crochet stitches on the middle toe, skip one stitch, start from the fourth and crochet sc in the next 2 st. Join the round, leaving one stitch on the first toe! Finally you get 14 sc.

Sew the holes between the toes and stuff the toes tightly.

Now, make 2 decreases in each round at the sides.

Rnd 7: (dec, sc in the next 5 st) repeat 2 times [12]



Stuff the foot.



Stuff the rest.


Cut the yarn, hide the end.

Pin the stockings to the feet and sew with invisible stitches. Sew legs to the body.

Wings: Crochet with Alize Softy yarn of white colour.








Cut the yarn. Make three more parts using this pattern. After finishing the third detail, don’t cut the yarn and continue crocheting.

Rnd 10: sc in the next 4 st on the first detail, don’t cut the yarn and continue crocheting on the second detail sc in the next 4 st, do the same with the third detail, sc in all 8 st, crochet sc in the rest 4 st on the second detail and sc in the next 4 st on the first detail. You got 24 sc.









Cut the yarn, close the opening and hide the end.

Crochet two wings according to this pattern.

Sew the wings to the body using button joint. Here are the photos. All buttons are of different colour.

Tail: Use yarn of different colours you like. Each feather is of different colour.

37 ch + 2 turning chains.

Row 1: sc in all 37 st

Row 2: 2 ch, turn and crochet sc in the next 28 st on the opposite side.

Row 3: 1 ch, sc in the next 28 st + sc under the 2 ch.

Row 4: 2 ch, sc under 2 ch and crochet sc in the next 16 st on the opposite side.

Cut the yarn, hide the ends. Crochet 5 feathers. Steam all the feathers very well and leave to dry.

Sew feathers as a fan.

Eyes:With yarn of white colour.





Cut the yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.

Stuff the eye and sew it to the head. Sew bead pupils.

Vest: Here is a sewing pattern, just click on it and print it on A4 sheet. Cut the parts!

Back:

1 part – main

1 part – lining

Front:

2 parts – main

2 parts – lining

Sequence:

1. Cut all the parts from the fabric and make 1 cm over-measures (it’s stated on the sewing pattern)

2. Tack side seams and iron them in the direction of the back.

3. Tack the lining along the perimeter, leaving shoulder seams unsewn.

4. Turn the vest outside thorough one shoulder. It’s very small, so you can do it, but if you are not sure, then leave the opening in the side seam of the lining.

5. Edge the breast, bottom and arm-holes, iron the seams. Take away the tacking.

6. Sew shoulder seams, work on the edges, and make the shoulder seam at the back.

7. Make button-holes and sew buttons.
