Spyglass Craft:

You will need a paper cup and a toilet paper roll.

Hold the toilet paper roll on the base of the cup and trace around it to leave a circle shape.

Ask your adult to help you carefully cut out the circle.

Decorate the toilet paper roll and paper cup (you can use markers, crayons, stickers etc.)

Slide the end of the toilet paper roll into the hole at the base of the cup.

Pretend you are the captain of a ship. What are some things that you might see?

Why do birds lay eggs in the spring?

Go for a walk in your neighbourhood to look for birds. You could take your spyglass with you to help you spot them. Use tallies to record how many birds you see on your walk. When you get back, draw a picture of one of the types of birds you saw.

See if any of the birds you saw were on the Birds of Langley brochure.

Coding Unplugged: X Marks The Spot

Ask your adult to help you draw a grid on a piece of paper with 1” squares. This will be your game board.

At the top of the grid, draw an X in one of the squares. On the bottom of the grid write the word ‘début’ (start) in one of the squares. If you want, you can decorate your page with some land and some water to look like a map. Draw arrows on squares the same size as your game board and cut the squares apart so you can place them on your game board to show different directions.

Now you are ready to play. Ask your adult to place 5 small objects from around your house on different squares on the page. These will act as obstacles on your way to finding the treasure. Place the arrows on the game board to show the path you will take to get to the treasure.

Challenge: See if you can get to the treasure with 10 obstacles.

***************

Sticker Words/Stories: Choose a sticker and put it on a piece of paper. Use your kindergarten writing – stretch out the word and write down the sounds you hear as you say it. Extension: Make a sticker story. Place a sticker on a page and draw a scene around it. Use your kindergarten writing to write the story or tell it orally in French.

** We are trying to do this in French. No English writing please.

X Marks The Spot Number Puzzles:

Ask your adult to help you get 10 square pieces of paper and draw a line from corner to corner to form an X. You will have four triangles on each square. Use one square for each number 1-10. In the triangles, do the following:

· Write the number

· Write the word

· Show the tally

· Draw small objects/stick stickers

When you are done all the numbers. Cut along the X lines to make number puzzles. Mix up the pieces and see if you can match the numbers and put the puzzles back together again.

Can you choose four animals that are different? Can you find one thing that might be the same?

Draw a picture to show both!

Create your own ocean animal out of playdoh (or other crafting supplies).

What do you know about this animal? What is one more thing you would like to learn about this animal?

Today we are going to work on the letter Gg. Watch the video of Mme showing you the proper formation of the letter then complete the Gg page in your Calligraphie book.

Place noodles or cereal (or some other small objects) in the centre of the table.

Roll a dice and take that many. See how many rolls it takes to collect them all.

*Challenge:

-play with 2 dice

-challenge a family member

We’re going to work on page 37 in our Jump Rope for Heart books today. Find a grocery flyer to help you complete the work. If you don’t have a grocery flyer, you can draw and colour the items yourself.

Afterwards, practice with your skipping rope. Are you getting better??

As sunny weather comes closer see if you can make these counting ice cream cones! Can you make them all the way to 10? You can draw or use craft paper.
