Site specific Hazards:
Busy work environment, movement of trolleys in factory, excessive noise & dust.
Work Procedures & Control Measures
1. Make sure you are wearing the appropriate PPE beforegoing on the factory floor safety boots, safety glasses, and
hearing protection must be worn at all times
2. Make sure the bins at the rear and side of the Bandsaw are not overflowing before work.
3. Make sure the working area is clean, tidy & there is no debris underfoot. Make sure the extraction is switched on before commencing work.
4. Check condition of all doors, door switchesguides and rear upper & lower bearings
5. Adjust the upper guard assembly to within 6-8mm of the material that is being cut prior starting the machine.
6. Start the machine & allow the saw to reachfull set speed before cutting material.
7. Do not force the material into the blade letthe speed of the blade cut the materialappropriately.
8. Plan saw cuts always try to avoid backing out of cuts.
9. Never push a piece of material with hands In front of saw blade, keep hands at safedistance on either side of the material beingcut if, necessary use a push stick
10. If the bandsaw blade breaks or comes off the wheels remove hands from work area & press the emergency stop and let the electric brake bring the machine to a complete stop.
11. When you have finished the work stop the machine, when it has come to a complete stop remove any scrap from the machine bed.
First Aid Provision:
The names of First Aiders are posted on all notice boards and are recognisable with green first aid polo shirts.
Welfare Provision:
Canteen with eating and drinking facilities is provided for all staff. Male and female toilets on site.
Schedule of PPE:
Hearing protection, Eye protection, and Protective footwear must be worn whilst carrying out this task.
Emergency Procedures:
Copies of the companies emergency procedures are posted by all fire exits, this is also discussed with all employees during their induction.
