Task 1: Reading speed and questioning: Make sure you are reading daily on your Reading Plus.

Now that the weather is nice, make sure you are using some time to sit and read in sunshine. Although we cannot go out to different places, reading is able to transport us to wherever our imagination takes us.

Task 2: Reading for pleasure: Can you create a storyboard for part of a book you have read this week? You may want to use resources from the following websites:

Writing

 

Task 1: Stories from other cultures: 

Last week, you retold a section of the story from 'Coco' as the main character, Miguel. This film looked at a famous Spanish festival. 

Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de Muertos) is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico, in particular the Central and South regions, and by people of Mexican ancestry living in other places, especially the United States. It is acknowledged internationally in many other cultures. The multi-day holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey.

 

Your task is to create an information poster which advertises the Day of the Dead festival!

Task 2: Creative writing:

Normally, each half term starts with revising our four operations.

This week, our focus is: multiplication.

 

Task 1: 

Use the video links to remind yourselves how to complete multiplications using the short method. I have included three sheets below. The different spices represent the different levels, so choose the spice which you feel you can complete best!

3. For the Oscars, 746 special goody bags have been prepared. Each bag has 6 special presents inside. How many presents has the organiser had to buy for these bags?

4. Nine children each bring in 47p towards their class’  Comic Relief fund. How much money did they bring in altogether?

5. At a theme park, 592 people each paid an £8 entrance fee. How much did the park make from these people?

Sorting living things into groups

TASK: Read the PPT below to recap your understanding of MRS NERG/MRS GREN. Your task is then to group a variety of living things into a Venn Diagram and a Carroll Diagram. Online Safety

It is so important that you are aware of all the different ways to stay safe online, especially during this time when you will all be using the internet and technology a lot more than usual. This week, I would like you to focus on being a good digital citizen. Complete the 2 tasks below.

 

Task   1: Keep a log (a type of diary) of all of your online activity over a week and how you made sure that you are safe online. Digital Citizen Log

Task 2: Teach a grown-up!

Interview an adult in your household to find out how much they know about online safety and write down their answers. If they’re not as clued up as you are, use your knowledge to teach them!

Design and make a toy! Decide what you could make using items you already have at home e.g. a tower set, pencil puppets, a shoebox house, a sock soft toy, a car ramp. Be creative! Once you have decided, plan your design carefully: name of your toy, draw a labelled picture of your design, make a list of resources and equipment you will need, think about how you will make it.

Time to get involved, sing-a-long and have some fun being part of an amazing Virtual iSing video to share with the world!  iSing are inviting all Liverpool school children (and their families) to sing-a-long to a new version of ‘In My Liverpool Home’ and to send:
