Math: The Egyptians developed a number system based on 10 (similar to our decimal system). Architecture and Engineering: The Ancient Egyptians excelled in working with stone and constructed gigantic pyramids (about 100 are still standing today!). Art: The Egyptians were accomplished sculptors who created huge stone statues. On the stone walls of temples, tombs, and inside houses artists carved and painted colorful scenes from everyday life and nature. jewelry. In fact the Ancient Egyptians were amazing jewelers and despite grave robbers, many examples of jewelry have survived.

The presentation Egyptian Amulets

Jewelry was made out of copper, gold, silver, bones, shells, clay and glass beads, and colorful rocks and gemstones.

Everyone, even babies wore amulets____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Making and selling them was a major industry of the time.

Think about what you would create for your own amulet. Clay hand-building techniques

1. Rolling clay into a ball

Clay that is rolled into a ball can then be flattened slightly, shaped or pinched, stacked or combined to make a more interesting shape.

2. Rolling clay into a rope or coil

Clay that is rolled into a coil can then be bent, curled, shaped or joined together to make a more interesting shape.

3. Clay with Texture

Tools can be used to “draw” into the clay to add texture. (Pretty much anything can be used as a tool)

4. Clay that is flattenedClay can be rolled or pressed flat thenshaped to make a more interesting shape . Press on top of a piece of paper and don’t press too thin or clay will get stuck to the table.

5. Joining pieces of clay together
