At 9:00 o’clock students left school and took the bus to Caxias do Sul. It was necessary two buses for the four groups. They were happy, talking, laughing and singing. At 9:00 o’clock students left school and took the bus to Caxias do Sul.

It was necessary two buses for the four groups.

They were happy, talking, laughing

and singing.

It was a rainy day, but they were having fun.

Objective: To see the Municipal Woodwind Orchestra of Caxias do Sul

and learn about Musical Instruments

Students arrived in Caxias at 9:40.

They got into the Auditorium and waited for the concert.

Finally, at 10 o’clock the Conductor started telling students what they were going to learn.

He talked about the Wood Family of an Orchestra and showed the instruments.

The Conductor showed the Wood family: the piccolo,(a small flute with high pitch), the flute, the oboé, the basson, the clarinet,

the Brass Family: the French horn, the trumpet, the trombone, the tuba, the double bass,

the Percussion Family: the kettle drums, the glockenspiel, the xylophone, the drum and others.

Each musician played a little to show the students the sound of each instrument.

Everybody liked when the conductor showed the tuba.

The conductor explained about the four periods of the Orchestra:

Barroco, Classical, Romantic and Modern.

Then the orchestra presented a song of each period.

At the end he called a student from each school asked them three questions and gave them a backpack as a present.

After the concert students got a Guide to read about Wind Instruments and went back to school in Farroupilha.
