Update required from South Beds Dial-a-Ride on their tender.

KR confirmed that funding for this year’s Dementia Conference has now been secured. The conference is planned for Wednesday 8th November 2017. ES to re-send ‘Save the date’ to the group.

3. Update on Dementia Strategy – Kimberly Radford

Dementia group is now divided into subgroups: (1) clinical and (2) community. The clinical subgroups focuses on all medial issues while the community one is more around training, raising awareness within different minority groups and actions from LDAA.

The meeting originally scheduled on 27th April for a clinical subgroup is now going to be a Mapping meeting open to everyone from the full strategy group. The clinical subgroup meeting will take place later in the year.

The Dementia Strategy is based on seven ‘I’ statements (refer to the presentation in item 4).

4. LDAA Update – Sian Gilleard

5. Dementia Awareness Week - Maria Collins

Active Luton would like to promote more their dementia friendly swimming sessions.

Pictons Solicitors – holding a Vintage Afternoon Tea for staff over lunch on Tue 16th May.

Keech – holding DF sessions for staff and volunteers on Mon 15th May at 11am.

Information about all events during the DAW need to be emailed to [email protected] . This will then be publicised by Annie Morton, our Communications Officer.

It was also noted that it’s vital for organisations to let us know what they are doing around dementia so more organisations are aware and more opportunities to link up.

6. Accelerator Site Update - Kimberly Radford & Sian Gilleard

The following information was presented to the group:

There was a discussion around opportunities for approaching different communities in order to raise awareness. It was noted that potentially there could be some information displayed in Bury Park. We could also try to identify people from BAME communities, who would like to become Dementia Champions and are multilingual.

8. Organisation News Flashes

Singing Café StopsleyIt was noted that partners of their loved ones who passed away continue to attend the café which gives a sort of support group feeling.

Pictons SolicitorsHolding a Vintage Afternoon Tea for staff over lunch on Tuesday 16th May including some fund raising.Suggestion has been made that any relevant information is sent to Charlie Beattie. She could then post it on their intranet and reach people in neighbouring counties.

Val ConroyThanked Active Luton for arranging dementia friendly badminton and tennis sessions.

KeechRecently completed their survey and fed back to NHS. They now developed an action plan based on this.

CCS ICM ServicesMichelle Pilkington volunteered to take part in recordings for radio during the DAW week.

Home InsteadWorking on a café, tea & cake with information session. Also will be running different themes in the café, eg seasons. Raised £60.

Diane WalshHas signed up for a Trek in September to raise money for Dementia.

9. Any Other Business:

Several members are attending Dementia 2020 conference on 13th April. Will feedback at the next meeting.
