For an extra challenge, try to figure out what the missing number should be before writing the correct statements.

17 + 3 = 203 + 17 =

20 – 3 = 1720 – 17 =

Weekly science:

PlantsHopefully you found some the plants from the list last week. This week we would like you to take a closer look.

With a grown up to help, we would like you to dissect a plant and have a look at what’s inside.

Have a look at the video below to guide you.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7EdZa24fMs

Cut it open carefully. Does it have:

a stem? pollen? petals? roots?

Use your senses to describe it. How do the different parts look, feel and smell?

Can you remember what job each part does?

Try not to pick plants that are still growing. Look for ones that have already come away from the plant or are in a vase at home if it’s ok with your grown-ups.

Weekly short writing task:

Instructions

Think about the new skill that you tried last week. Maybe you learned to juggle or mastered a dance craze. We would like you to teach us your new skill so that we can try it too. Try and write a set of instructions for us to follow so that we can perform your new skill. Helpful hints

Think about the things you did and the order that you did them in. You can use time words to help you put them in the right order.

Use bossy verbs like you are giving us a command. For example, cut, fold, pour, jump etc.

Write a title for your instructions so we know what you are teaching us to do.

Include a list of ingredients or equipment we may need to complete it.

Think of a closing statement to put at the end so we know when we are finished.

As always, we will be looking for capital letters, full stops, finger spaces and lovely neat handwriting. PE ActivityTo get you moving, why not try a game of musical statues? Dancing can be a great way of improving a bad mood and making you feel better. The more people in your house that can join in the better.

1. Play the music nice and loud.2. Dance your heart out.3. When someone stops the music stay as still as you can. If you move

you’re out!4. Last person in will win the game.

Weekly mindfulness activity:Whilst the weather is so nice, why not try one of these mindfulness activities either in your garden or on a walk.

1. Cloud spotting – lie on the ground looking up at the sky. Do the clouds look like anything you recognise? Share your ideas with someone to find out what they see when they look at it.

2. Collect 5 nature items from your garden or park. Spends 10 minutes looking at them in detail. Describe what they look, feel and smell like. You could even describe their sound when you crumple them up.

3. Do a feelings weather report. Describe how you are feeling like you’d describe the weather. For example ‘I’m dark and cloudy with some raindrop tears coming out’ or ‘I’m mostly sunny with a few clouds in the sky’.

Weekly whole school activities:Week 2:

Write a letter to someone you can't be with. I want you to write about all the things you are going to do together when you are finally able to visit them. It would be fantastic if you could actual send this person a letter or an email!

Remember your first paragraph should state why you’re writing (the fact that you miss them and have been thinking about them etc.)

You 2nd paragraph/section could talk about fond memories that you have of them and things that you have been doing recently and more importantly things that you want to do with them when you can next meet up

You final paragraph/section should mention what you want the recipient to do. E.g. write a letter back, log in online so you can catch up etc.
