Abstract: Preference of rice bug Leptocorisa oratorius on grasses and sedges and infestation on rice. This experiment studied the preference of the rice bug on four species of grasses and three species of sedges, and the effect of its infestation on different reproductive stages of rice. Rice bug preferred the grasses Echinochloa crus-galli and E. colona over species. The largest number of eggs and nymphs were found on rice and these two species. The nymph development on these hosts was not significantly different from that on rice. The highest infestation of rice bug was found at the milky stage during reproductive stadium of the rice plant’s growth.
