The Magic Cooking Pot

Once upon a time, Annabel lived with her husband and three children in a little house.

The pictures below tell how Annabel went looking for food and found a magic pot.

Draw four blocks on a piece of paper or your homework book. Write a similar story. Each block must have at least two sentences.

Activity 4: The ow and ou sound

1. Look at the picture. Read the story.

“Ou” and “ow” often sound the same.

2. Read the rest of the story. Fill in the “ou and ow” sounds.

“Oh, wise Owl,” said a mse, “h will you help us?” We are but little forest animals.”

A brn deer began, “The hnds that chase us are fast and cruel. Oh Owl, you must help us…”“That was too ld,” said a rabbit. “It is just not right.”

Owl answered, “Well, if I’m an owl, I should not be on the grnd, bit in a tree. And if I do not speak up, no one will know what I’m talking abt.”

A squirrel bnced up and said, “Hcan we get anything done by arguing? Stop it!” But all animals were arguing. “I’m not going to listen to you hl,” said the deer. She pulled at her head until a mask came off, showing a girl underneath. “I’m through with this silly play!” And she marched off stage.
