TRANSCRIPT
In this literary piece, the young character reflects on his childhood events that
inspired him to become an author later in life (as stated in the introductory text at the
top of the reading). Write a personal narrative (a true story) about something or
someone from your childhood that has inspired you to choose the career/lifestyle you
plan to have in the future. Make the last lines of your text, “Soon I was convinced that I
didn’t want to do anything else in life but learn to do what ______ had done.”
For example, I was inspired to become a teacher by my middle school science
teacher, Vicki Cottrell. I would write about moments with her that inspired me to go to
college and start this career, and I would end my personal narrative with, “Soon I was
convinced that I didn’t want to do anything else in life but learn to do what Mrs.
Cottrell had done.”
Your personal narrative should be at least 350 words. It should include
transitional words and phrases, sensory details, dialogue, and your word choice
(syntax) should set a nostalgic tone to represent your younger years from the past.
