Safe Honesty Respect Healthy Teamwork

We are settling into a new term and the children seem keen and excited to be back at school with their friends. It is good to

hear all their stories and it sounds as if everyone had a real fun and relaxing holiday.

We have a busy time ahead of us and I attach a calendar of events up until the Spring Break.

Christmas EventsWe had some excellent events in the run up to Christmas which the children enjoyed. We raised £1200 from the Christmas Fayre which helped to fund some of these events. Can I thank everyone who supported us and made this possible for the children?

LibraryChildren are continuing to be timetabled to visit our school library every

Monday which is run by some of our parents. We have added new books to our library which we have been able to do so due to our book fair and donations from our Reading Partners at Sky Park. However, we are still keen to supplement our library further with books from current authors and also non-fiction books. If you have any books that your child/children have finished reading, we would appreciate it if you could donate them to the school.

Student

If your child is coming home and talking about a different teacher, Ms Lennox, please don’t worry, we have a university student from Glasgow working with Primary 1 /2 until the end of March.

BURNS EVENTOnce again, we will celebrate Robert Burns’ birthday at our assembly on Wednesday 23rd January at 1.15pm. All of the children will be involved performing either a poem, song or a dance. Parents are invited to come along and celebrate with us. We will have our resident speaker Bill Toner who will ‘address the haggis’ as well as Bob the Piper giving us a few tunes on the bagpipes. There will be haggis, neeps and tatties for all to have a taste of. Please come along and join us in this fun event.

UniformAgain I continue to reiterate the importance of all children coming to school in uniform which consists of:

White Shirt/Tie or White polo shirt with Anderston Logo Grey/Black skirt/trousers Navy jumper / cardigan with Anderston Logo

PLEASE ensure that your child’s name is on every piece of clothing to ensure that if uniform does go missing, then it can be easily traced. Indoor shoes MUST be worn in school. Some of the children’s indoor shoes are either becoming quite worn or are too small. Can you remind your child that if this is the case, then they bring them home and get them replaced?

School uniform can be ordered from the school office. Please contact Christine Caird who will give you a uniform order form.

Head LiceI am continuing to highlight the issue of head lice and the need for everyone to work together to try to eradicate this problem. We need everyone to take time each week to do a thorough head lice check and treat hair accordingly. If you require any information, please contact the nurse at your registered doctor’s surgery or speak with the local pharmacy.

LatecomingAs you may remember, I wrote to all families in November regarding the importance of punctuality and coming to school on time. Unfortunately prior to us finishing for the Christmas break, the number of pupils who were coming in late to the school had

increased. As I said before, this not only impacts on the children and their learning but also to the other pupils in the class. It also causes disruption at the office which is often very busy at this time of the day. Some parents were also receiving texts to say that their child was not in school when indeed they had come in late but not reported to the office. We are going to focus strongly on punctuality in terms 3 and 4 and as a school we are introducing a new initiative to encourage all children to be in class for 9am.

XPRESSIONS APP

We are continuing to send out information electronically. Texts that are sent through the Xpressions APP do not cost the school any money. Please can I ask you to follow the link below and download this App.? Your support is appreciated.
