Successful Party Planning Tips from MimosaWhen planning a party whatever it might be, whether it’s a wedding reception, christening, birthday party or just a gathering of friends, there are a number of points that you should consider.

Plan ahead; parties always take longer to organize than you initially think. Is the occasion going to be informal or a rather more formal sit down occasion? Estimate how many people will attend and what your budget is. Establish the preferences or special requirements of your guests. For example, will there be any vegetarians?, or do any of your guests have any food allergies? Would you like a traditional fare? or do you fancy trying something more exotic; for example Moroccan, Thai or European delights? What about drinks? What variety would you like to offer? Are you going to match the food and drink to the décor and entertainment? How much involvement do you personally want to have, or do you want to have a caterer that can take all that pressure off you, even when it comes to passing around the canapés? Will you be having a cake and who will make it for you? What about equipment? Do you really have enough glasses, plates and even chairs?

Some of the terms out there can seem confusing so here’s a brief rundown of the type of catering you can choose:

Canapés / Finger buffet: offers guests bite-sized portions without the need for cutlery – canpes are typically one bite, finger buffet items are usually 3 or four bites.

Fork buffet: guests can help themselves or be served individual items; this requires plates and cutlery.

Sit down dinner: You can decide on the number of courses for your guests and the food you want to serve.

Wines and Champagnes

Choose from our boutique selection of wines, champagnes, aperitifs and spirits. We can offer 10% discounts when ordering by the case of 6. Should you require

wine glasses for your party, we are able to provide 24 glasses free of charge when you spend over £250 on food or drink. A deposit on glassware hired is

required. 

StaffWe have a team of trained staff that works regularly with us in our events whether it is a quiet drinks party or a grand wedding. Service staff start at

£13.50 per hour. Minimum shift is 5 hours which includes travel time. Please ask for further details. Lead staff to manage larger events will be charged at a

higher rate. 

Order Times for Catering Generally items normally on offer in our shop such as quiches, pizza,

samosas, tortillas, salads will require two days notice. However, we may also be able to meet your requirements the same day. For canapés, finger or fork buffet, and a la carte Items, we ask for 7 days notice. For cakes and tarts

generally we ask for 4 days notice. 

PaymentFull credit card detail are required to confirm an order with payment in full due on collection or delivery. On orders above £200 we ask for a 50% deposit with

balance due on the day of the order/event. For larger parties, we will ask you to sign our terms and conditions contract.

 

Delivery We can arrange delivery to our local area. We have a £10.00 delivery charge.

For further delivery outside our area, please ask for quote. 

Display Dishware & Equipment We have a range of modern white or traditional Moroccan dishware that we use

to compliment our food. We loan all buffet dishware free of charge. For all other equipment requirements such as cutlery, crockery, glassware, linens,

tables, etc., see listing to follow.
