The research of their laboratories, together with a direct contact with customers worldwide, provides cutting-edge technology and highly reliable products.The Eni automotive lubricants range includes formulated products which can meet the needs of lubrication of all vehicles.Industrial LubricantsThis category includes lubricants of all types intended for the lubrication of industrial machinery, such as hydraulic oils, turbine oils, compressor oils, bearing oils and industrial gear oils. Among all these categories, the one on which the highest volumes is hydraulic oils which are used in the hydraulic controls of building machinery, industrial plants etc.
Mining LubricantsMining techniques can be divided into two common excavation types: surface mining and sub-surface mining (or underground mines) . Today, surface mining is much more common, and produces, more or less 90% of minerals worldwide, in respect of HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) for all workers involved in production process and for ambient. Eni has a full spectrum of lubricants and greases for all types of mining equipment and rock drilling processes.
Gear & TransmissionAll vehicle and equipment transmission systems (gearboxes and differentials) require the use of gears, i.e. coupling of toothed wheels. If the correct lubricant is not used, since gears are often subject to high speeds and very heavy loads, degenerating phenomena may result involving mechanical wear of the metallic surfaces in contact with each other. These negative effects can occur at first with vibration and noise increasing till to the complete system breakage. An effective way to avoid problems is to always use dedicated lubricants that have a different formulation than motor oils since a strong rate of antiwear additives is required. Similarly to what happens for engine oils, SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) also assigns a viscosity grade for car transmission lubricants based on viscosity values measured at high (100 °C) and low temperature. The most frequently found grades include 80W-90, 75W-90 and 85W-140. Since the viscosity of all ATFs is very similar and is not representing a significant distinctive feature, the indication of the viscosity grade is usually omitted.
GreasesAccording to the definition given by ASTM (American Society of Testing Material), a lubricating grease is a solid to semifluid product composed by thickening agent in a liquid lubricant. The most used thickeners are metallic soaps, organic and inorganic thickeners. The base oils used can be: mineral, synthetic, vegetable or esters of natural or synthesis origin. The combination of thickeners, base oils and additives gives to the grease its characteristics, performance and range of use. The National Lubricating Grease Institute (NLGI) has developed a numerical scale to classify the consistency of greases. It defines nine distinct grades of greases, ranging from 000 (extremely fluid) to 7 (solid). Eni offers a very wide range of lubricating greases for all applications in a variety of sectors: heavy industry (cement plants, steel mills), papermaking, factories and marine applications.
Food Grade LubricantsEni has developed a “food grade” line of lubricants capable of meeting the production requirements of the food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and animal feed industries. Using Eni “food grade” lubricants enables the customer to: • minimise the risk of food contamination in all the various production phases, as required by the procedures of the HACCP protocol (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), • meet the lubrication requirements of all machines used in the production processes, • ensure high product quality standards, • maximise productivity.
Speciality ProductsEni AntifreezeEni Antifreeze products are ideal for use in the most modern vehicles since they help guarantee an effective coolant action for engines, including very high-powered engines; it also offers maximum protection against corrosion. All products are highly biodegradable thanks to their ‘NAP free’ formula (Nitrites, Amines and Phosphates Free).
Eni Brake FluidsFor the best braking system performance in the most extreme conditions, eni Brake fluids are the ideal solution. Even for racing, eni Brake Fluid products guarantee a prompt and effective braking action. Their special formula makes it possible to prevent dangerous vapour lock and to keep the braking circuit in perfect working order thanks to the anti-corrosion properties for metals and chemical compatibility with rubber seals. eni products comply with the severe performance standard issued by FMVSS116DOT (Department Of Traffic) adopted by OEM’s and that can be found in the maintenance booklet of the vehicles.26
