MeditateWhen was the last time you were completely content with what you had and the money you make?

What is your reason for wanting more?

Do I feel that what God finds valuable is more important than what people find valuable? Why or why not?

Do you believe that God will meet all your needs?

How would your life change if you believed that God had your best interest at heart?

Lord you are the one who provides and gives us everything we need. May I never forget your love and always be grateful for what you have given me. I will cling to you and seek you so that I will know the riches of your glory in Christ Jesus, Amen.

When Is Enough Enough?

1. When we learn what is enough, we will learn what it is to be content.

I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether in plenty or in want. Philippians 4:12

2. Jesus is enough.I can do all things through him who gives me strength.

Philippians 4:13

Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account. Philippians 4:17

MeditateHow do you plan where God’s money is going to go every month?

How could seeing our money as belonging to God change our perspective on it?

Is debt our way of getting around depending on God?

What message are we sending to God when we go into debt rather than live on what he has provided?

What effect will today’s decision to go into debt have on tomorrow’s freedom to follow God wherever e wants us to go?

Lord I confess that I do not always rely on you and wait for your timing in my life. From this moment I will trust you more. I want to be able to honor you and follow you without the hindrances financial indebtedness brings. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Savings and Loans

2. Planning the use of God’s money helps us to avoid going into debt.

The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. Proverbs 21:5

Study1. Read Matthew 23:23; Luke 11:42. Jesus supported

tithing, as shown in his dialogue with the Pharisees, but he expected more than outward obedience. What does God say should accompany tithing?

2. Read Acts 2:44-45; 4:32-37. The early Christians often went far beyond tithing to share all that they had. Does New Testament giving lower the Old Testament bar of tithing-or raise it? Why do you suppose the average American Christian gives only one-fourth (2.5%) as much as what was required of the poorest Israelite?

3. Read Malachi 3:8-10. Can you think of anywhere else in Scripture where God invites us to test him? God seems to be saying, “Would you just obey me and give me a chance to show you how I’ll bless you?” What is keeping you from giving God a chance to show what he can do in this area?

4. Read Luke 6:38. What is Jesus saying?

Lord, this is a very hard place for me to trust you. You are faithful and you are a provider. Help me not to just say that with my lips but to do that with my heart. My actions will reflect the heart you have given me and the trust that I put in you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Generosity: The Mark of a Believer

1. God has always called his people to give because he is generous.

a. Tithe -10% of your incomeb. Offering – above and beyond the 10%

2. We are called to give no matter our circumstance because we know where our home is.

In the midst of very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. 2 Corinthians 8:2

3. Giving is an opportunity to partner with God in building his kingdom.

Entirely on their own they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people.

2 Corinthians 8:4

4. Challenge God …see that you also excel in giving 2 Corinthians 8:7

See that you also excel in this grace of giving.~2 Corinthians 8:7
