Welcome and Announcements(Please sign the ritual of friendship attendance pad and pass to others in the pew.)

* Greetings of Christian Fellowship

Opening Hymn Joy to the World Red Hymnal 246

* Call to Worship and Advent Candle LightingLeader: Last Sunday we lit the first candle—the candle of hope. Today we light the second candle, the candle of peace. We light it knowing full well that peace is elusive, and, in some parts of the world, it is almost completely absent. Yet, in this season of Advent, we trust that God is never absent from us. God is always preparing something new. And even where there is war and discord, whether between countries, within families, or within our own hearts, God is present, gently leading us to new possibilities.

People: Loving God, in this time of preparation and planning, we thank you for the hope and peace you unfailingly offer us. Show us the creative power of hope. Teach us the peace that comes from justice. Prepare our hearts to be transformed by you, that we may walk in the light of Christ.

* Lighting the Candle of Peace O Come, O Come Emmanuel (vs. 1-2) Red Hymnal 211

Leader: Take your encouragement from Christ, that your joy may be complete.

Welcome to Wesley! If you have questions or special needs, please speak to an usher. Worship activity bags for children are hanging on a rack at the back of the church.

Our ushers have large-print hymnals available.Nursery care is provided for infants and toddlers in Room 202.

Please remember to silence your cell phone during worship.

There is no outside reading or preparation required, just join them on Sunday mornings at 10:10 am in the church library for learning and discussion.

2016 Commitment Card If you have not yet turned in your 2016 commitment card, you may still do so by placing it in the offering plate on a Sunday morning or dropping it off or mailing it to the church office. You may also call the church office for information about electronic giving. If you need a card, ask for one from the ushers today. Thank you for supporting the mission and ministries of Wesley UMC!

Wesley is again collecting calendars to send to Roger Ose

We are looking for a couple people who would be willing to help polish the brass offering plates, candle holders, etc. It would be just a couple hours once a month. Please talk to Janette Yaeger if you are interested.

Advent Study The Tuesday evening Bible study group will begin an Advent study on December 1, based on the book “Sent” by Rev. Jorge Acevedo“God sent Christ into the world as our Savior. That’s what Christmas is all about. In turn, Christ sends us into the world. But do we really understand how, where, and why we are sent? This five-week Advent study challenges us through story, art, and Bible study to discover what it means to be Christ’s hands, feet, head, and heart.”Join us for the video and discussion study at 7:00 pm in the church library.
