New Clubs starting this new year We are fortunate once again to be able to offer both Drama and Dance clubs at LJS. Mrs Clarke has secured sessions from two coaches after school. Attendance has been good this week and if your child would like to start please book a place before there are no more spaces.
In the event of severe weather conditions (e.g. very heavy snow or flooding) causing the school to be closed before school opens or during the school day, the school would report to parents via the following, and in the case of closure before school should start, by 7am. We communicate in the following order;
1. A text message from our teachers2parents text system.
2. Calderdale Council Emergency closure page at
www.calderdale.gov.uk/education/closures
3. The school’s Twitter account @Longroyde
4. The School website www.Longroyde.weebly.com
Should heavy snow or other extreme conditions during the school day necessitate an early finish, we will make telephone or text contact with parents. No child will ever be left or sent home without contact being made.
Please don’t forget to send your child to school in warm coats and with hats and gloves as the weather gets colder. Thank you.
PFA Meeting At this week’s PFA meeting we discussed the forthcoming discos his year. Our next one will be the Valentine’s Disco on Thursday 11th February 2016, 6pm. We also planned the Easter Disco. In March we will have a Mother’s Day Stall selling affordable gifts for children to buy for mums. Father’s Day gifts will also be sold later in the year. The PFA discussed the possibility of taking the whole school to the pantomime in Halifax at the end of the year as we will need to start saving up in order to do this. Thank you to everyone who attended the meeting and if you would like to be involved please let Mrs Goodall in our office know.
Thank you Rev Stephen Hannam, who came into school last week to speak the children about Christian History, amongst other things. We also thank him for his services to the school in other ways including his regular assemblies which are much enjoyed by the children and staff alike. Thank you Rev Stephen!

Football Training Special thanks to Mr Hurst who has organised football training for Y5/6 after school starting next week. We are lucky to have someone with Oldham connections coaching our children and we are confident of success this season! The team for matches will be chosen from the children who attend the sessions and remember these are open to boys and girls.
