Next Week’s Word Study
Math: This week in math we touched on making graphs. We discussed how to label graphs and read the data correctly.
Reading: In reading we focused on two stories. We read Elmer and made a sequence chart to go with the story. We also read a non-fiction book about elephants. We practiced answering true and false questions about the text. Finally, we made a Venn diagram comparing the fiction and non-fiction texts.
Science/Social Studies: Being the first week of school, we kept our focus on rules. We practiced rules in the classroom and rules of the school. Friday we had fun practicing different stations around the school so we understand what is expected of us.
Teacher’s Corner: We had a wonderful first week! Please review first grade expectations with your child. Remember to discuss the importance of raising your hand and following directions. The Dolch Words and Word Family words below will be the spelling words for spelling tests every Friday. Friday, September 13th will be our first test.
