Dear Parents/Carers, Welcome to Term 4. It has been good to see all the students return with enthusiasm and excitement for the new term. The following information is an outline of class and grade learning experiences for Term 4. We hope it will be informative and helpful. English Talking and Listening How to listen to different points of view and engage with class discussions and presentations. Viewing BTN to target effective listening and note taking skills. Debating skills is an ongoing focus for this term. Students will practise debate preparation and will be involved in class and stage debating competitions. Students will be allocated new topics and groups. Guided Reading Focusing on the skills of comprehension Predicting Questioning Making Connections Monitoring summarising Visualising & Vocabulary Writing Imaginative texts with the focus being poetry and narrative. Creative and Performing Arts

Drama – (Mrs Till) 6B,

Visual Arts (class teachers) Consolidation of the elements of art and the appreciation of artists. The study of the elements of art and appreciation and enquiry into famous artists and their works will continue into Term 4.

NB: Interest groups – as selected by students.

Human Society and Its

Environment/History/Science

In this unit the students will develop understandings and knowledge about energy, how it is generated and used, why energy efficiency is important and how it can be conserved at home and at school. They apply this knowledge through the design of an energy efficient building and plan and take action that reduces energy consumption at their school. Through this process, the students will develop energy efficient attitudes and behaviour, which will lead to a more sustainable future.

Important information for Term 4

Library:

Homework

Our Homework continues to focus on the four areas:

Spelling – Spellodrome activities and words set by the teacher which follow the work done in class.

Mathematics – Mathletics set tasks by the teacher related to class work or as preparation for upcoming lessons.

Reading – Eggspress activities and reading.

Talking to Learn – completion of speeches and debates.
