Current Status of GST and the Road ahead

Goods and Services Tax (GST)

Model GST act in public domain since June 2016

Constitutional amendment passed in the Rajya Sabha on 3rd August 2016

Constitutional Amendment was ratified by Lok Sabha and also ratified by the required number of

States - followed by presidential Assent

• The GST Act and rules for CGST and SGST would be prepared and passed by Parliament and State

Legislatures

• GSTN network (software solution) under development will have to be launched

• GST would be law from the date of notification (which currently is 1st April 2017)
