FRONT PAGE

Becks website is unlike many other artists of his stature, it has a feel of more a art students blog rather than a multi-platinum recording artist. With a quirky feel and aesthetic to those unknown to beck would think it wasn’t a professional page but a independent artists page. The front page advertises the single upcoming from becks new album and has several different links as to where you can purchase the single, offering vinyl from becks official store is another feature you wont see on most artists website, online versions are of course also available. To enter the main website you have to click the link to enter beck.com.

Clicking the single instantly starts to play it from YouTube.

HOME PAGE

The home page carries on from the non-professional aspect of the website with a very clustered home page filled with several different links to other artists sites/blogs that are hosted by beck, showcasing several painters and musicians artwork. The home page has a blog style layout a form of internet design rarely seen on social media anymore let alone a major artist. With a endless scroll feature to navigate the site you get a bigger emphasise on less commercial products you get the impression that beck is more concerned about showcasing products he cares about rather then ones that will be more profitable.

Similar to the front page the main thing dominating the page to a lesser extent is a link to a collaboration beck was on with the chemical brothers again with a video link.

The planned obsolesce button takes you to a page that holds various different mixes beck has made of several songs along with again promotion of other artists artwork or music.

The irrelevant topics pin takes you to a page filled with extended conversations with various different artists and people that beck has had. The title of the page keeps in style with the indie underground vibe of the rest of the site.

The vid button takes you to a page with every beck music video titled videotheque, this is important as it covers all aspects of the different products beck advertises.

the collected work link takes you to a page displaying one of becks albums, not becks most recent album but a 9 year old album I think this is done to advertise the vast array of music he has put out over the decades.

The record club is a side project of becks where he collaborates occasionally and re records a album with a different set of musicians, this again advertises lesser known performers and allows them to gain attention a theme of the site.

This page displays some of becks lesser known projects such as his score of the motion picture Scott pilgrim vs the world, and also hidden music section of other artistes beck I interested in.
